Here's the best tail drive. For only $65, it trumps all. From jaghobbies.com. enjoy.

I ordered one too. Should have it tomorrow. I also have a AR6100, Telebee HH gyro, ARC motor and CC ESC on the way. I don't know why I ordered all this stuff for this little heli.

Are we talking about ordering the belt drive kit from freestyle for the Blade CP Pro, or some other heli entirely? :dontknow

Anyway, I ordered my belt kit for my BCPP and had it shipped express since I'm going on vacation and wanted to get it put together before then. I got it yesterday. I fiddled with it for quite a while to be sure to get everything lined up correctly. I found that the front idler pulleys are non-symmetrical, so depending on which way you put them, they can sit a little higher or lower. I also seemed to have a couple of extra washers supplied (unless I just don't see where they should go) so I tried combinations of putting them in and leaving them out until I got the pulleys in the right position vertically.

I also found a small spacer… did I read somewhere here that it goes below the lower bearing on the main shaft to bring the main gear down a bit? I installed it there, and it seemed to make sense. Without it, the belt would ride very low on the forward pulley.

The forward pulley had some flashing on it which prevented it from sitting flat on the gear. No big deal, just a quick trim with the knife.

The stock frame is so flimsy at the forward end that I had to make sure I was not putting a twist in it. Since the old boom is now used to locate the boom clamp, and it's round, it would be easy to rotate this and tighten it up, and put a twist on the whole assembly. When I experimented with this, I found it affected the way the belt tracked on the front pulley and idler pulleys, so I wanted to be sure I had it straight.

I bought a telebee gyro, and I have a Futaba S3111 to use for the tail, and also ordered a CC Thunderbird 18 ESC and ARC 110 BL motor. I want to stick with the smaller flight batteries to keep the weight down, so I'm going to try mounting the tail servo nearer to the front and use a longer carbon rod to reach the tail bellcrank. If I don't mount everything up front, this thing is going to be tail heavy for sure. I didn't get the extended plate because I didn't realize I could do that when I ordered, so I may make myself a little extender out of carbon or something. I want to canopy to still fit on, so I have to watch out for that.

One problem: I can't fit the stock gear back on. The horizontal pieces interfere with the fiberglass plate. There is a picture of the assembled pieces on the web site, but mine won't go back together as shown in that picture. Not sure what to do about that. The stock gear is also too short, which is a bummer. I really wanted to keep the stock flimsy gear because my goal is light weight. Any ideas?

I received mine yesterday also and I'm having some of the same problems. I am going to try and grind down the cross-members of the landing gear assembly to get them to fit. I think that should do it. I will post pictures when I'm done. other than that this little project has gone together nicely. little tweaking here and there but all in all so far it has been a very solid product.

My bad. Just trying to help out.

I was talking about the new belt drive little heli -- ESKY King V2 Kit for $65 -- and not the Freestyle upgrade for $88. Both fix the same problem -- no more tail motor. It's just that the King is a better deal.

if you have the extra stuff laying around. i wouldnt want to use the stock electronics from eflite in another heli. but if your willing to gut and not use your pro anymore then i guess you would have the electronics

What battery can anyone suggest for my blade with a Park 370 Brushless and this mod. I have 3 of the e-flight batteries but I think I've killed them all because none of them last for more than a few minutes... :-(

I will try and take pictures tonight of the finished project I still have some tweaking to do.

the G90 Gyro tends to be a bit twitchy and I have to get it programmed into my DX7 right now I"m using the Pot to tweak it.

OH and what has anyone done about the Center of Gravity this thing is really tail heavy...

find a way to extend the battery tray out.. be creative... adjusting the pot ont he gyro is the easyest way to use the gyro.. runnign gyro sense with a upgraded radio egh i duno adjusting the pot is easyest way for me..

ive had good lucky with electrifly packs.. my lhs has a 910 3s pack.. or you can use thunder power 730, 910, 1320 packs. or flight power 900ma packs. there all the same price with the electrifly packs prolly being a few bucks cheaper.. i plan on getting a electricfly 2200ma for my trex to see how there packs hold up, but best lipo for your money would be the flight power. but your going to need a upgraded charger. odds are you will need a 12v power supply.. cheap charger. is the celectra charger. charges 1 to 3 cell lipos only. charge rates are 250ma, 500ma, 1a, 1.5a, 2a.. it will work for your under 3000ma lipos.. but needs a power supply. you will also need a better balancer if your on a budget the astro flight blinky balancer is like 24 bucks. then 4 or 5 bucks for the flight power / thunder power adapter..

I have this charger/balancer http://www.deeteeenterprises.com/NS.T.Rex.Align.Charger.1a.php

works great for my T-rex I have charged one of my e-flight batteries on it with no major hassles but not sure how it will handle those other batteries you mentioned.

I'm gonna go up to my LHS because they do carry electrifly packs and see what they have.

since you have a trex also.. if you look at the price of the electrifly packs vs the tp packs for the rex.. i think the electricfly packs are 5 to 10 bucks cheaper..so if the electrifly packs works good for the pro.. you might want to try one for the rex. i entend to atlest pick up one for my rex..

woops! sorry I've been away. I have been side tracked with other stuff. If anyone is still having issues with the belt mod let me know. Maybe I can help.
Last weekend I took my CPP out and really tried out the tail. I am still pretty noobish so all I could test it with were Piros, Fast forward/reverse flight, and throttle punches. All of the above tests turned out well. No noticable tail slide as the throttle is punched. I'm sure there is some but I didn't notice any. Piros were easy to do and maintain. This was only the 2nd time I have tried Piros and I was easily able to do 5 or so revolutions one direction than immediately change direction and do 5 or so more.
My CPP is a load of fun now.

Well... I cracked the case on my Tail servo in a bad landing.. the boom is a little dinged up but I don't think it's bent... This would be my only gripe about this kit as of right now. the tail servo mount is not very strong. I'm not sure what to do about the tail servo. Can you just buy a new case for them. I do believe it's a Hitech HS56

oh and one more thing. I have the G90 Gyro and notice that the tail servo will Creep while the Heli is standing still. what can you do about that?

txflyer

nothing just take off it should be fine once the forces try to move the tail. its like with a tail esc the prop willl spin at a slow speed wile its on the ground.

no worries man you can get a new servo case. I will hit don up tonight and see if he can make some cnc servo mounts.
if the tail issue you are talking about is happening on the ground while spooling up than Tx is right but if your talking about the tail drifting slightly while hovering I just use a click or two of trim to fix that. There maybe a better way but that's what I do.

txflyer
07-13-2007, 04:35 PM
if you have to do more then say 4 or 5 clicks reset the rudder trim to 0 then do a turn or 2 on the push rod links..as said above you just want to do a few clicks of trim

Well it turns out that servo was hosed completely.. so I had to get a new one. no problems though. I will say out of all the mods that I have done to my blade this one is hands down the best. all other mods could not get the tail control I have now. anybody who wants good tail control on their blade cheaply... this is the mode to do it with.
