I have a optic 6 with the synth fm. Is a 6ex FAAST an upgrade? Or should I just keep it?

Well if you want to be on 2.4 ghz and not worry about getting frequency pin any more. I would say the 6EX FASST is any upgrade.
Danny Szabo used an 6EX FASST at the recent XFC competition.

I bought one. Inexpensive way to try out the new technology. No sub trims, but everything else seems ok.

I just ordered one, to replace my optic 6 (non syntehsized), i read it has no sub trims, is that really an issue?

No, I don't think its an issue. But actually, it does have subtrim. They just don't call it that . Its a menu simply called "trim." It adjusts just like the sub trims on my 9C. 100 pts in either direction. I just finished a build using this radio. Even though it has subtims I didn;t use it. Better by far to get the linkages right in the first place.

I've been flying this radio in my Knight 50 sport and I really like it. Tx has a nice feel. I was talking to a guy recently who writes for Quiet flyer. He was telling me how this radio is simply too limited. He cited the sub trim issue. I think Futaba should address this because it really does have that function. Its very easy to set up and is a really decent heli radio. The only thing I can find that its lacking in is that the throttle hold pitch curve comes from normal mode. Other than that, I think its great. I'm going to get more rx's for mine and use it in other helis. Its a great buy.

OK, got mine, set everything up, it does look a bit plastic... but that can be easily solved :-)

I like it, the setup at least, simple, to the point. Gonna test it today in my mini titan.

Cool!
best of luck. I'll be interested in hearing how you like it. I flew mine again last night. Still a nice little radio. And that rx will fit anywhere!

No, I haven't used mine on a trex But its really easy to setup for any heli. Let me know if you have any questions

If you are particularly fond of your Optic6 or just want to keep your programming then your other option worth considering would be a 2.4GHz modular solution from XPS: http://xtremepowersystems.com

The 6ch Rx should be out next month but even the 8ch Rx will fit on a TRex.
