I bought some 61T from my local hobby shop, it is supposed to be used in r/c car. It is thinner that the original one but with the exact central hub diameter. So drilling the 3 mounting holes is that all.

I test for 4 flights on banging sticks 3D with Trex600L motor. Suprisingly, no stripping gear happens. The final flight resulted in a crash caused by servo problem. THe delrin gear is so strong that the main gear survived after the crash, despite boom, carbon blades and taili gear box broken !

I will post some photo if some of you are interested.

BTW, it costs USD $2.5 only.

The above test flights are in stock 500mm woodies.

I am on my way of testing its toughness with 515mm carbon at HS 2200 soon.

Dear All,

The USD 2.5 is a "blue colur" fake delrin and fails at the 5th flight. I test for 3 gears and it does not last long.

This new white delrin cost USD $8 and I will test it on 515mm carbon to make sure it will last ~20 flights. :lolol Today I bang the sticks tic-toc at pitch +/-11 and still cannot destroy it.

I've seen the picture in the link, but we need a part number or at least a make or model of car that it is intended for? It looks like an excellent upgrade, but if we don't know what to buy, you're just teasing us :)

Just flied another 7 flights on 515mm@2200 HS/ 11 deg pitch today. Absolutely beat the stock 61T gear. My 7s A123 cannot go more than that as the temperature is beyond 61 deg. C. after 4mins. 3D flight.

The delrin gear is from Kyosho V-one engine rc car. I'll post the packing this weekend after more testing. I can see the gear start nipping now.

I am the owner of RevCo. I have been reading looking at this thread from time to time and I feel I have to make a few things clear before anyone wads up their Hurricane using the wrong gear.

1.The Kyosho V1 (its acutally a V1-RRR) uses 32 pitch imperial gears not metric .8M gears. Its really close but its not exactly right. The Kyosho gears will be more noisey than than correct pitch gears.

2.The gears on The Kyosho V1-RRR are injection molded not machined delrin....FYI, RevCo gears are not delrin they are Acytal Engineering Plastic. Unlike delrin, AEP is humidity and temperature stable. That means my gears are the same size during humid summers in Singapore and winter flying in North Dakota.

3.The gears on the V1-RRR are also more narrow than the 7mm thick gear that should be on the Hurricane. This makes them weaker no matter the material.

4.Another issue is the diameter. A proper .8M 61T gear should be 48.8mm in diameter (a 32dp 61T is 50mm) however...the Gaui 61T gear in the kit is 50.6mm in diameter. I believe this is due to swelling in the molded gear. Either way the frame is desigend around a 50.6mm gear. If the main gear is not EXACTLY 50.6mm in diameter the gear mesh will be wrong and the heli will either strip the gears due to loose gear mesh or bind due to tight gear mesh.

The only two gears on earth that are proven to fit the Hurricane 550 properly are from Gaui and from RevCo.

The only gears proven to last not matter what motor and battery combo you can fit in a Hurricane are from RevCo.

I am a heli pilot just like you all. I created RevCo to give other heli pilots top quality solution to problems no one else was solving. I am sorry if this post seem self serving but I just dont understand why someone would risk a $1000 heli on a $5 gear when you could get a $14 gear than would absolutly, positively not fail.

When will gears be available to ReadyHeli again Adrian? I missed out on the first batch.

I will stick with revco also when the stock is there! Are you overstocking this time to help with the initial surge of all us helifreaks buying them up? I think an drivetrain upgrade package would be a good thing to have- hs of x and up-whatever exceeds the stock hs possibility. What do you guys think? If I am tearing down the frame I would rather do all gears in there and be done for a while.

You miss my point. :lolol

The delrin gear I use is not made by Kyosho, but for Kyosho V-one. I use it because simply of availability. That is the reason I do not post the packing/ brand for fear that someone got a bad feeling for comparison. :arggg:

Until now, I flied almost 30 flights on carbon 515mm blade on 3D amazingly the delrin gear still intact. My point is delrin gear really works in this heli.

:smokin: Well guys, go for Revco's delrin. I mean that.

I understand this thread hurt you. :arggg: If you are talking about risk, Gaui makes the biggest mistake for us. And do not buy this cheap heli combo worth $3xx only, that is a risk to you and your family as the heli may shut down because of the bad ESC and stripped gear, that may fall on someone's head!

You do not need to tear down the frames to replace ALL the gears....
for the frount set you remove the set screws on the top gear and the shafter will drop out the bottom of the lower front bearing block. Viola! gears now slide right out of the frames.
