Hi,

I have 3cell 2100mah batteries for my trex 450 and i am looking at getting the bc6 charger. I like that it has the balancer and ac/dc built in. I really want to be able to charge at home.
I plan to get a trex 600 in the near future and was wondering if this will charge the 6s batteries? I heard it will but at only .5mah? at that rate it would take 8 hours to charge a 6s 4000mah? is this correct or am i missing something?
can I go with the bc6 now and is there a cheaper option for charging the 6s batteries in the future?

If i go with the bc8 im going to need a power converter to charge from a wall outlet, is this correct? if so, what convert does everybody use?

Thanks evryone.

J,

I don't have much history with it yet, but I did purchase a BC-8 about one month ago. I have a 600 with an Align 6S2P 4400 mah. Charged it and the receiver pack (7.4V 1200 mah) for the 1st time over the weekend. I chose the BC-8 because of the internal balancer. I put about 2,200 ma in the 6S2P in 60 minutes at a rate of 4.0 amps. All 6 cells peaked at 4.2 volts per cell (or so it said). Gives you a lot of good info while charging too, and has a lot of safety features. Can't recommend it after only one charge but so far, so good. Also, I kind of like the idea of having to charge off my car battery (outside). I pulled the truck up to the garage, set up a little table to put everything on, sat down with a Natural Light and enjoyed the peace and quiet !! (The manual for the BC-8 leaves a lot to be desired...I think the Korean translators did a terrible job). A lot of folks here like the TP 1010 w/210 balancer. Probably should check that out too...

BC6 is 50W, 6S = 2A max charge.
BC8 is 150W, 6S = 6A max charge.

If you are serious about a Trex600 then get the BC8 and a suitable power supply (atleast 15A).
I know the BC8 is more $$$ but thats part of owning a 600!

Other options to consider...
E-Station 902+PB6 =200W
Hyperion 1210I+LBA10=180W
TP1010c+210v =220W
BC8 =150W

I would be more than happy to answer any e-Station charger questions.

Hi,

So to charge a 6s 4000 mah batterie it would take 2 hours with the bc6. Is this correct? And can the bc6 also balance a 6s?

Thanks

With a 6S pack, the max charge rate would be 2 amps. At 2 amps, it would take more than 2 hours. Even at a 4 amps charge rate, the time would be longer than an hour, maybe hour 15 minutes. A C1 charge does not mean an hour charge time when it comes to lipo's.

Yes, the BC-6 can balance a 6S pack. For that size pack, I would recommend the BC-8.

The BC-8 will charge it at max rate of 6 amps which would 1.5C.

If you wanted to go to an even higher charge rate, the 902 would be able to charge that pack at about 7.9 amps, almost 2C.

What is the highest c you can charge a lipo? I thought 1c was the highest. so a 2100mah I would charge at 2.1amps. what is the highest you can go without hurting the lipo?

That depends on who you talk to. Some manufacturers say 2C, most say 1C.
