I have a TREX 450se. On my last crash, the Spektrum Remote Receiver SPM9545, that came with the AR7000 kit, broke. The case just snapped off! I never could find the top of the case.

The remote receiver still works. I just thought that I would post and advise, as well as get some input or suggestions for future mounting, protection and most importantly the prevention of this in the future. (Other then the obvious, of STOP CRASHING!) :)

Can you post, and or show pictures of your Spektrum remote receiver placement? Does anyone, or would you recommed to velcro the case down, for added protection? Would velcro reduce signal reception?

Does anyone know if Spektrum has case replacements? Do I just have to purchase a new remote receiver for $30.

Should someone recommend some strong glue, to Spektrum?

Thanks in advance!

if it was me, i think i would put a heat shrink over, before shrinking it i would poke 2 holes for the antenna's. then becareful when using the heat..

Brian, Finless says ...... GYRO on top = BAD!!!! I think that alone is a good indication that you should not mount anything in that position. I've seen a few mounted on the side of the frame, on the tail servo, on a plate between the boom supports, on the rear bottom of the tray.

You could build a nice balsa box for it in a few minutes..... or maybe modify a Tic Tac plastic box or some other candy, gum, mint container.

I bet you can get another one from Spektrum.

You should see the things I have snapped off in crashes. I wonder how many G's a good crash subjects everything though. It is amazing how strong our heli's are I think.

WHOLLY SMOKES!

I called Horizon Hobby, Inc. at Support Phone: (877) 504-0233, and they are going to send me a new remote receiver (NO CHARGE)! Now that is customer service. Makes me want to buy nothing but Horizon distributed and supported products. Thanks Horizon Hobby!

The tech did recommend or concur, that a Velcro strap would be advisable, to keep the top of the plastic case from coming apart, from high G-force shocks / crashes. He stated that the Velcro would not attenuate the signal.

I’ll post again, once I receive the remote receiver, and how it looks on the T-Rex 450 with a Velcro strap.
Thanks everyone for your quick responses!

Yes, remote receivers are also available separatly. For anyone who is wondering about it. I think they sell for roughly $25.00.
