-Hurricane 550SE combo (Throw out motor & ESC)
-Neu Motor 1910/1Y with Fan
-Castle Creations Phoenix 60 ESC
-Futaba GY401 & S9254 Digital Servo Combo
-3x Futaba S9650's (im not sure on servos so some input would be nice)
-6S1P 3700 FP pack
im looking for a bigger machine to fly hard 3D.
im also looking at the T-REX 600 nitro, im just shopping around now looking for what will give me the best performance for the price.

I dont know that motor... Whats the KV and watts?
9650's wont fit in the frames. The frames are molded for full sized servos.

ok thanks bob, so i could use something like a 9451 for the cyclic?
the motors Kv 1050 i believe the stock motor is 900.
im not sure about the watts, but i do know that alot of people are using it on their logo 10's

Yes 9451's are a good choice in fact a little over kill. However with those be careful with the 3 AMP BEC (same as Align Trex600 3 amp BEC). Some Trex600 folks have had the 3 amp one shut down on them with 9451's. so get the 6 amp Align for $17... It a great BEC for $17
Sounds like the motor will work then. Get Adrian's gears from Readyheli.com and if you want good head speed a 24T pinion might be a good choice with that KV

Wcc - I think the Neu Motor is too big in diameter to fit in the frame. I just checked and I am ~90% sure it won't fit.
The Neu 1512/2Y is a 1400 Kv motor and it will fine. you will need to gear it 18/68 with RevCo gears to get a 2500 head speed on 6S...that combo would probably RIP!
The Z-Power Z30-1100 is ~$80.00 less expensive and has very similar power to the 1910/1Y. You can get them at www.tppacks.com.
If you wait untill the end of the week www.ReadyHeli.com may have the new Gaui 1500W, 1100Kv motors.

9650 are too small to fit the frame, I use 9252 for cyclic-works great I have already faced the problem with align 3A BEC (it burned) so now I use 6A BEC, no problems

Hi Guys,
I want to buy a new ESC. I havent figured out yet what motor i want to use. Most probably the Z30 1100. But first i want to wait for the results to arrive from the new promised GAUI motor.
So i want a good ESC that i can use in the future with other motor's and lipo's/A123 as well. I keep looking at the CC phoenix 80. I see that some of you are using this one on the Hurricane. As for programming this ESC. Do the video's that Finless made for the CC phoenix 80HV apply on this ESC as well? Or are they way different in setup/firmware and features besides the high voltage part?
I'm hoping to get a more stable HS with this esc in govorner mode. I don't dare to setup the GAUI esc to do this. (This one is running 100% flat throttle curve anyway) I know that the stock motor can't cut it anyway, but with 2 good packs and a good esc there should be a difference right???
My only worry with the esc is the lipo cell count. I beieve that 6s is the max (7s for A123 i assume)
Thanks,
Maurice

Do the video's that Finless made for the CC phoenix 80HV apply on this ESC as well?
Yes they should be exactly the same for the CC80.

ok well i've decided to go with this setup:
-Hurricane 550 Kit
-Full CNC head
-RCP Carbon Fiber Main Blades 500mm
-Neu Motor 1910/1Y with Fan
-Castle Creations Phoenix 60 ESC
-Futaba GY401 & S9254 Digital Servo Combo
-3x Futaba 9541's (with a CC BEC rated for 10A)
-2x 3S1P 2500 FP packs
now do you think it would be better to go with 2 3S1P 2500's or 1 6S1P 3700?
im not sure but i found a wesite that says that the NEU motor will pull at most 32A. so will a CC35 work or should i go with the 40?
now i know that the motor wont fit without some mods to the frame, so i think i'll just grind away the part that is in the way. what do you guys think?

35A for hard 3D on a 500mm bladed heli? Seriously, you need at least a 50Amps ESC. And why go with the Neu? You get the same power with the Z30, without any grinding. The place you need to grind, is where the bellcracks are, not a good spot for grinding... For hard 3D, you should choose 2500mA packs, for longer flight time, the 3700 ones. Even if the 3700 will let you thrue with some amazing power and performance.

how will the 2500's give me more than the 3700's?

WCC - I am about 90% sure the Neu will not fit. It is too big in diameter and even if it clears the frame the front bell cranks will probably hit the motor.
If any one has a 19xx series Neu motor and a Hurricane please confirm this so we can all know for sure.

yea i kinda figured that after watching finless's videos again that if i did gring the frames it would be really close to the bellcranks. so i think im gonna get the Z30 instead. it has a higher kv than the NEU anyway. so i'll wait to see some flight reports and hopefully some videos.
