In my zest to get the longest flight times possible on the Lepton I am about to build, I may have ordered a battery pack that is too big to fit in the Lepton. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find the maximum dimensions for a battery to fit in the Lepton. The battery I purchased is a Cellpro 4S 4800mAH. It's dimensions are 38mm x 45mm x 135mm, and it weighs 517g.

Does anyone know what the maximum dimensions are for a battery for a Lepton? Will the battery I bought fit? If not, I still have not opened it, so I can return it and get the 3200mAH version (or two).

Thanks for all input,

Steve

I run TP 5000-4sx Packs (34mm x 45mm x 160mm 490gr) on my Lepton. Fits just fine.

Thanks Gus. That is a relief, although the Cellpro batteries are 4mm thicker. I hope that does not make a difference.

Buy eye it looks like the max height it 39mm
So I doubt that you will be able to use velcro on the tray

Normally with small electrics weight is counter productive
cos it takes more power to lift and increases the wing loading
on the small blades

I'm sure it will still fly pretty well however

I am not looking at doing any 3D type stuff for many many months, so as long as I can hover, progress to FF, then FFF that's fine with me.

Should I get to 3D flight at some point, I will go with the 3200mAH batteries. They seem to be a much better size for the Lepton and weigh more in line with what I have read is a good battery weight for this helicopter.

Thanks again,

Steve

The battery compartment dimensions in the Lepton are: 38mm x 51mm x (approx)170mm.

The critical ones are the first two: height (38mm) and width (51mm). As jafa said earlier, if your battery is already 38mm tall, you may/will have problems putting velcro to hold it.

Take a look at the EVO 3700 mAh. They have a lot of punch and fit the Lepton perfectly.
