I purchased G3 and have been playing with it all afternoon, very cool! Question is this. How do I know when I am ready to try flying for real?
I have a ton of experience with airplanes (been about 4 years) and have always wanted to try helicopters but have been intimidated. I have read alot about the new equipment and it seems to be a lot better than say 10 or 15 years ago.
I am also a FAA commercial helio pilot with about 2000 hours, maybe this helped me????
Anyway, I can hover and fly around just fine with any of the helicopters on the G3, is it going to be this easy for me for real? If so where and what do you suggest I buy? Orange County, Ca, thanks Tim.

I'm not going suggest what you should buy other than to tell you to seek out the local pilots in your area and find out who has knowledge with which products. Go with something someone is familliar with and even more important is successful with.
If you can control your hover on the Sim, your ready to strap on the gear and start hovering for real. Start small and build your comfort level up one manouver at a time.

Thanks for the quick reply! I left a couple things out. I wanted to ask about the electric choppers so I could do my learning at home or the park across the street. I work full weekends and have had a very difficult time to get any help other than to show up to the local field. I actually have done that and my welcome was not very warm.....

No Sweat,
Be carefull with Electrics, Micros are finicky and require a real understanding and attention to detail. Larger Electrics will cost you more in batteries than fuel for a nitro for a year. The mid sized electrics on the other hand are becomming better and better all the time. I'm flying a JR Voyager E as my "park Across the street" heli. I also bring it to the indoor electric events we have and pretend it's a micro! It's a good stable heli but not a 3d ripping machine. it take a ton of modification to get it to 3d very well. If I was to start looking at electrics again, I'd start with the Mikado's. The Logo 14 & 20 are supposed to 3D out of the box.
For better info, perhaps this will help: http://www.logoheli.com/ These guy's really know there electrics.
If you keep hanging around here i'm sure you will find other pilots online that fly in your area. maybe try the pilot locater list. If you get talking online, I'm sure someone will offer to help you out. Heli pilots for the most part love tinkering with helis. Anyone's at all!
