Hobby People will be selling the Shogun v2 for 79.99 over the 4th of July Holiday. Is the Blade Cp the same size as the Shogun V2? They look about the same. Are the main blades interchangeable? I know both can support the HS-55.
The reason im asking is because i hate buying those damn tail motors (Shogun uses a shaft tail drive). Also, my Blade is so messed up the parts needed to fix it may equal Hobby People's sale price for the Shogun. At this point, my Blade is a throw away. And i am looking for another little heli to replace it besides a Trex (I have 2 already).
The things im hoping i can transfer to the Shogun are:
1. G90 Gyro
2. HS-55 Servos
3. TX and RX
4. HDX300 Brushless Motor and ESC

why not order the free-style belt drive mod ? its 99 bucks shipped from aus. sure it costs more but makes the cp very nice..
things to consider is parts cost, does your lhs stock parts for both helis ? how often are they sold out ? have you done some research on shogun v2 ?

From what i hear the Shogun used to the king until the Trex showed up.
I dunno, Txflyer, $99 Freestyle upgrade vs. $79 for a Shogun v2 kit? Dont seem cost effective to me. The J-Team Compy belt drive frame/kit sounds like a better deal than the Freestyle.
In any rate, bud, thanks for the input. I'll do my research.

hmm ive never really even seen a shogun heli. the freestyle belt kit is better for people that want to keep the cps mostly stock. slap the belt drive tail on and really no more mods needed.. don at freesyle is very willing to go out of his way to help a customer or soon to be customer out.. i have most of the trex stuff needed for the freestyle kit so we was willing to swap those parts out with replacment parts like an extra belt and boom.. in the end get what you want. but in some caes its no ligical to.. i wanted a e325 mini titan. but my lhs wont be stocking parts for a few months to maybe a year..so the trex was a more logical choice.. post up some pics if you can of the shogun..

i was looking at the shogun too a while back. i think it's on it's way out...like soon to be discontinued, if i remember correctly. if you want a belt tail heli go with the honeybee king v2. more parts availability and i hear it kicks a$$.

The free-style belt mod is really more like $84 or $85, if you look, the currency is set to AU$ instead of USD :D

I don't think that Shogun V2 for $79.98 includes servos, esc, motor, battery, etc. So your end price will be much more than 80 bucks. Kit looks cool for the price though. If you already have a CPP than for much less cash you may want to consided the FSBM (freestyle belt mod). LOL, man I feel like I am pushing this mod on everyone. I just see so many people unhappy with the CPP mostly because of it's tail hold and this kit fixes this problem well.

ya right you know you talk about it when ever you can to rub it in that i dont have it YET. i say yet cuz i think im working through that recent parts embargo (spelling) placed on miketoria.
lol nah i know your just trying to pass on a bad ass product to others. so they can enjoi this hobby as much as you and others do, he speaks the truth tho this kit is seriously worth the upgrade. but going brushless is almost a must i would think.
hey man you should post that video you sent me the other night .i think once the newer guys see how that tail acts they will start gather the needed upgrades to use that belt drive kit, and then buy the belt drive kit
so you know i was just pullin your leg there buddy...

LOL, I will post a video of something better than me chillin on my patio hovering. It doesn't really show anything that I (or others) couldn't do with a motor tail. Guess if any of you want to see it and have Myspace you can look me up (Howie_L) and check out my videos. I am still learning how to set up a belted tail so the video is actually me setting things up. If anything it shows that the tail still hold well even when it isn't dialed in properly.
Any yes TxFlyer, the only reason I talk about the FSBM is to make you wish you had on even more. LOL. Once you get one I will pretty much stop comming to this forum all together. LOL, untill I get something else that you want. Hahahaha, just thought of something, I should post videos of me using my dremel too. :lolol

Okay fellas did some research. We have a show stopper. Operation Shogun is a no go. Apparently the shogun is not CCPM. So that means i cannot use the Blade's TX on it. And, I aint about to buy more radio equipment to make it work. I guess it aint a good replacement after all.
BTW: stuck my g90 on my RC18. It fixes the steering slop very well. Now, I dont have to worry about it drifting left or right. Does a good job at keeping the little car going straight (especially with the Mamba X in it).

Just setup my new King V2. Used the electronics from the blade. I bought a AR6100 so i can use it with the DX-7. Set it up like my Trexes. 11/-11, -2 at point zero, and 6/-6 AILE and ELEV. I run a 0,60,80,90,100 throttle curve. Not much to do set tracking -- there's only 2 links you need to adjust.
The heli flies really good. I believe more stable than the blade -- almost trex-like but with a slower head speed. I will post some pics later. For 85 bucks it's not bad. I regret i didnt buy it from jaghobbies because it's only $65 there.

ive said im not interested in another small heli but for 65 bucks i think it would be a fun proct to push to the heli to limits. throw in a insanely power bl setup. ramp up the head speed. then go at it in the air.. it would be nice to have a side project... hmm looks like the belt drive tail isnt going to happen anytime soon.. well i dunno...
