Well I crashed again. I am getting better though. This time the heli started coming towards me and I freaked out. Did a real abrupt stick movment because of the blades of death looking at me. It was still some ways off , but still too close of my comfort. Here are some pictures. List of replacments needed that I found just looking quickly.

Fan belt
tail casing
tail boom
Main and autorotation gears
Blades of course
flybar
double link
header tank bracket
tail servo rod

My question is this. If I was to upgrade to a a full or partial metal head and tail casing. How well do they hold up in a crash. Is it worth the money to replace them with metal when I am still crashing like I do.

Thanks for looking
Everyone likes seeing a crash so here are some pictures.

I took the main tank out to empty it. But the header tank went flying.

The only thing I would upgrade to metal is the center hub. But since its still in one piece I'd wait untill its really worn out.

Sorry about the wreck :(

My partial metal head has held up to 2 pretty hard wrecks and still tracks perfect. Both times it broke one plastic blade grip and bent the feathering shaft. Not too bad considering the amount of damage to the rest of the heli.

Sorry you crashed
What level of flying are you :?: How much money a crash will cost.
The plastic parts will break and cost less to replace,on the other hand if your flying and the plastic part are not breaking from crashes as much but are developing slop from time on the parts or the typ of flying your doing then it time to buy some metal parts. Some metal parts are just for looks and there isn't anything wrong with that. If your starting out then keep the metal down to what you really need and that way you can work your way up to the metal parts and not break the bank learn to fly. A metal hub will last you a very long time. :fly

What metal parts would you say for a noobie that I would spend just as much money on buying plastic parts in the long run. I have not been flying very long just decided by I think I can say mistake to go above my ability. Pushing myself a little to hard.... Hovering can just get boring sometimes.. :arggg:

If your learning orientation and at the hovering stage and you're crashing more frequently, i feel from my own personal experience that you're better off saving money by using plastic parts due to the cost of metal parts for replacement. A good metal head will run around a couple hundred dollars, a plastic head will run you around 50 bucks. The other metal parts that I've talked about are to eliminate slop and make the heli respond crisper. For example, the metal pitch arm and metal hub as well as a good swash plate, myself i like the quick uk swash plate. The rest of my raptors are basically stock and fly great. The metal tail assembliy really didn't make a difference in my tail control or holding power. But like I said before, if you're at the hovering stage, you're better off with plastic parts and then later, as your flying gets better, you can upgrade to metal. Save your money and buy fuel, this is just my personal opinion--it workd great for me!

i wouldnt put the metal stuff on yet if your still learning
the plastic parts are cheap and easy to replace when they break
if you put a metal head on it then crash the head will be ok but other things
will break like main frame and what ever is next weakest part.......

I can't tell you how much money I saved using a training gear. If you keep crashing it will save you a lot of money in the long run.

I know what caused the crash.....

The unfinished canopy. All that white blinded you.

Whe I started flying my raptor the engine sheared off two engine mount screws.
As you can imagine it fell like a rock, I wasnt high enough to auto so the only thing that saved my heli was the training gear. All I had to fix was a landing skid that broke and two mount srews that got plenty of loctite so that wont happen again.
