So I was checking out a heli mag recently... I didn't realize that Futaba has the ability now to swap out the back of the transmitter and of course receiver to convert my 9CHPS radio from simple PPM/PCM to the new FAAST technology.

Besides having to swap it to be an 8 channel vs. 9... I guess they don't have a "9" FAAST receiver... is there any reason not to do this? Is it as simple as just buying the FAAST Tx module and new reciever? I haven't looked at price yet either so maybe that is a factor. Is this stuff even available yet? I tried to do a few searches online but didn't find anything.

Thoughts?

It is as simple as swapping the module and receiver. The reason it is only 8 channels. The 9C only transmits 8 channels in PPM mode. The FASST will be feed by PPM stream.

I ordered the Faast TX module as a test, as I need 2.4Ghz now and because I want to continue with Futaba when they later this year or at the beginning of the next year will have the full range of Faast transmitters.

I find this solution only as a temporary solution because it is not very handy to have the antenna on the TX module and as I think the full potential of Faast is only released in a real Faast transmitter.

I think the full potential of Faast is only released in a real Faast transmitter.

The FASST modules for the 12FG/12Z/14MZ will all have the same resolution and transmisson qualities as a Fasst Transmitter that has the system built in. The above 3 are the only ones that will have 2048 resolution.

This 2.4Ghz module works with Futaba FF9?

Yes this module works with the Futaba FF9

Thanks! ok, I just read somewhere that my T9CHP with a module will not be the same as the Faast T9 when released....but anyway, think the possible differences in speed etc. are more of teoretical interest, and the main reason I want a real faast transmitter later is that I want the antenna to be where the antenna should be :-).

Hmm ok for some reason I didn't get the email when teh replied here showed up..hehe.

Anyhow so an 8 Channel with my 9CHPS in PPM will actually be 2.4 Ghz... and safer from lockouts etc..etc... ?

"The above 3 are the only ones that will have 2048 resolution." what does that mean...is the 8channel somehow inferior then ? I don't need a 12 channel xmitter...

Hi all,

I'm also using a 9CS and would like to go 2.4G. But have heard a lot that using a 2.4G module in 9c will increase the 'latency'? So, does that mean the responses of the heli (servos) will even be slower to my stick inputs than i just use PCM module? Any advice guys?

Best regards,
Rich

I was all set to order the Futaba FAAST module for my Super 9C, when I learned that the module will *NOT* support my three R606FS FAAST receivers that work with the Futaba 6EX w/2.4GHz FASST. That is a deal breaker for me.

For more information about this lack of support, see:
