Hello all,

Right now I practically have my heli with full seperates have the main brushless and the tail DD brushed. For power I am using the stock eflite lipo 11.1v @ 800mah.

I just received the brushless tail motor and a cc10 brushless esc. I was wondering before I converted my brushed tail motor to brushless, will this battery handle it or would I need something better.

If I need a better lipo, what would you recommend?

If you want to upgrade to a good battery, you need a Good Charger; $75 to $250, a Balancer; $15 to $75, and a power source; $50 to $90. Thunder Power Packs are good, and for the Cp or Cp Pro, get the 3 Cell 1320mAh packs which are around $50. So you're looking at anywhere from $175 to $300 depending on the quality you get.

I already have a good charger and balancer (not eflites stock bcpp charger). So basically its only the battery I need. Any specific brands I should be looking for?

Can the bcpp stock lipo bat handle the addition of a brushless tail..... :dontknow

Thunder Power 3 cell 730 Mah or 910 Mah. Both weigh little and provide a great deal more amps than the E-Flite . The 1320 is a bit big, but can last quite a bit longer, I don't recommend it for 3D, just FF and light aerobatics.

also right now with the trex guys its flightpower lipos.. a flightpower 3s 910 pack is the same price. so what not buy the best. if your charging setup can charge a tp pack. it can charge a flightpower pack..i think... ive looked into this alot here lately..

if money is a problem seeing as the cost of chargers.. the stock eflite charger can charge electrifly packs. i charge my 1500ma 3s electrifly power series pack with the eflite charger..

i wouldnt get a 1500 its twice the weight of the stock pack. they are also in the same price range give or take a few bucks as the tp, and flightpower packs.. honeslty im going flightpower for my cpp, then over time flightpower for my rex. rex fp packs are kinda pricey...

For what it's worth, you have to look at the balancing plug on the pack to see which side of the plug is the positive (+) side of the plug. The red wire is on the positive side.

The Eflite packs have the + on the opposite side from the Tower Hobbies battery that you referenced.

If you buy one of these packs, you can still use the Eflite charger but you will need a poliarity reversing cord to do so. You can find them here. These guys are good to work with and quick to ship.

This link is for s SET of adapters but you can buy just the one you need there too.

its also the other wires in the plug
each wire will read a different voltage. its own voltage plus the voltage from the pack before it.. those wires have to match up also from what ive been told.. when we checked the electrifly packs out at my lhs. the plugs where the same. so my heli guy grabbed his multimeter and checked each pin on the plug. to see how they matched up to the eflite packs... i was alittle worried to charge it when i got home. but it charged up perfectly. my blink balancer only had to balance the pack after charging for maybe a minute.. till it turned off.. now the eflite charger is slow. my 1500 pack takes between a 1.5 hours to up to alittle over 2 is the longest its been on there..

Looking at the image of the electrify lipo and the eflite lipo I have here, the connectors are the same. Red wire is in the same location for both.

ya the red wire is in the same spot. its how everything is wired to the plug.. ... all the wires have to match in order for the eflite charger to charge it..with out problems

So I don't have to get a reverse adapter after all?

i wouldnt think so for 3s electrifly packs. the ones with one red wire and 3 black wires...
i plug my electrifly 3s pack into my eflite charger.. no adapter or anything

I just gave the bcp eflite charger a shot on charging the electrify lipo pack. It fit perfectly and charged. However, because I was not comfortable using these together, I went ahead and connected a multimeter on the esc lead to see how far more it needed charging. Once reached 12.60v the eflite charger did not shut down although on occasion the voltage would drop to around 12.58v and then back up to 12.60v. After a short time, the voltage went to 12.61v - 12.62v again drop to around 12.60v. I decided to end the charging myself. Should I be concerned about the voltage going beyond 12.60v?

The other charger I use is the Accu-Cycle together with the blinky and the voltage never went past 12.60v.

hmmm when it charges my packs both eflite and electrifly the green will start flickering. it will get faster towards the end then it turns off.

I got the flickering too from slow to fast. But panic set in when I saw 12.62v.

im sure it was going to shut off in second.. it freaked me out to the first timecuz it took longer and the charger got hot.. but next time try and see if it turns off. once it hits 12.60 wait like 2 or 3 more minutes..

I'll give it another shot.
