Hi guys,

I read up on what has been done to stretch the L10, but just wanted to confirm so I will get that "warm and fuzzy" feeling.

My understanding is that the L10 standard boom is 560mm and 20mm diameter. The L10 stretched kit is 620mm, but with an aluminum boom. Can I use a Logo 14 CF upgrade boom -- 650mm on the L10 Carbon setup? I have read of people stretching their L10's with L14 boom, belt and brace. If the L14 boom is a direct fit for the L10 Carbon without any major modifications, I was thinking about cutting the length down from 650mm to 620mm and buying the same size belt and brace used in the 620mm stock stretch kit. Or just leaving the length as is.

I have an "opportunity" to upgrade due to an UNSCHEDULED LANDING. I was testing my AP rig with a new 17 pinion and underestimated the wind. I lost control at it ended up at about 300 up & 300+ horizontal. I could not tell what direction and it plummeted. I did not see the impact, but when I arrived at the crash site the heli was burning. One of the lipos caught fire and melted most of the bird. I wish I had a video to show; it was quite horrific. Lots of lessons learned.

As a result I will be looking for lots of parts. This ended up to be a real testament to the Askmanap mount. It came through in one piece; except for the bracket that the camera screws onto which just popped off. My Canon A640......TOAST! :(

Anyways, what do you all think about the L14 Carbon boom for stretching?

Thanks!

I have not done what you describe but I have used the 620mm stretch kit (and added the Logo14 boom brace kit) and I cannot see why you could not cut down a carbon boom to match. I would think just getting a good cut would be the issue. On the smaller helicopters the carbon boom tended to amplify the vibrations so I don't know if I would use one in an AP ship.

I already went ahead and ordered the L14 carbon boom and gear to try. I will keep an eye on the vibration and see how it goes. Thanks for the input.
