I am only getting about 7 Min Flight Time on the following Setup:

Zoom 400 with Belt Driven Tail
Mega 15 400L with 11-T pinion (Little Blue motor with bulit-in heatsink)
Jeti Advance 18 ESC (could change to a CC35 for gov. mode if need be)
GY401, 3 HS55 and 1 TowerPro SG50 (tail)
TP2100 3s

The Motor is too hot to touch after 4 min flight while the TP2100 is only warm after the entire 7 min. flight (my other 2100mAH Li-ion's are boiling hot after just a 5-min flight). My TC is 0/40/70/80/90 and my PC is 40/60/70/80/90 (with +7 & -4 pitch). Head speed is measured at 2100 RPM all the way thru the throttle curve -- What Gives???

Will I have better luck going with a 9-tooth pinion????

Should I use this on my TRex 450X with the 11T pinion and get a Himax 2025-4200 with a 9T pinion for the zoom???

Your suggestions are more than welcome.

Regards,
Henry

I'm using a himax 2025-4200 w/ heatsink, cc25 with 9th pinion and a kokam 1500 lipo. I flew about 7 min the other day and still plenty of power for more but my hands got to cold. I'm going to guess and say I could have gone about 12min since I saw no power drop at all. It is cold here in PA so nothing really got hot either. Good luck to you.

Have you put a whattmeter on the setup yet? what is the KV of the 400L motor. It sounds like you are drawing a lot of current. I use a Razor RZ-24-3650 with a 9 tooth pinion and a TP2100 lipo. At full rpm and hover pitch I am running around 10 amps or so. motor gets to 150 degrees after a full 10 to 12 minute flight and battery is about 120 degrees. 150 degrees is very hot to tough but not smoking hot and I don't use a heat sink.

I was thinking of something else to look at. The carbon tail drive may be chewing into the bearing in the tail boom. I would check that out. I had to tear mine apart yesterday because the heli was starting to vibrate. And I found The bearing in the middle of the boom was compacted with dust and not working A little wd-40 and all is fine again. But that may be a reason for the run times.

check your pitch settings and make sure your not trying to pull to much. Check your tail drive rod in the boom. Could the batt be bad. and try the heat sink for the motor. It may be new but that dosen't mean it is not getting hot. With high pitch settings the motors tend to get real hot. Back the pitch off but add more trottle. At 3/4 stick I'm just at hover at 75% and go up to 90% full stick. At 1/2 stick I'm at 69% throttle. Just some ideas
