My Airskipper 90 is almost ready to fly, and dang she's sleek and sexy! It's my first 90 size heli, and it was so much fun to build. Everything fitted so well and the parts are of high quality. I'm sure the flying performance will be just as good - can't wait! :glasses2:

From what I've seen this is both a great 3D AND F3C heli

Hi DieselSA,
That looks great! What is your setup?

Good luck!

I've got an OS SZ 90 PS engine, JR 8321 servos on the swash, JR 8900 gyro servo, and waiting for a CSM 630 gyro. Blades will be NHP 700mm and NHP 105mm, waiting for those as well.
Can't wait to fly! Maybe this weekend if the parts show up soon enough...

What's in your Airskipper? And how does it treat you so far?

Hi DieselSA,

I've pretty the same setup! I'm flying F3C with this heli in 2007, maybe I'll get one also for 3D next year. This is my setup:

OS SZ without pump
DS8321 allround
G770T gyro with 8900G servo
Radix FAI mains and radix 105 tails

It is flying very well, extremely stable in the hover

Have you made your maiden this weekend?

My blades should be here either today or tomorrow, so maiden will be this weekend! I'll report back how it went.

Word of warning on the NHPs. They don't have the strength for a 90. I folded a set on my Vigor just doing some fast figure eights. The blades didn't depart, and I had enough cyclic to get it level, but there was no collective to slow the decent, as the blades would just cone up.

I wish JR would get on the ball here in the states. We are limited to the Vibe for the 90 size now and the venture for the smaller stuff. I will be interested to see how the AS90 flies.

We've had only good reports on NHP blades so far. They're rated as some of the best blades around. Maybe your set had a defect in it?

Please note that it has been found that JR tail blade holders are less than 5mm wide. When a standard NHP tail blade is used in a JR tail blade holder, a small amount of side to side rocking movement is visable. This rocking causes the blade bush to cut its way through the blade root. NHP have now modified the root shape to suit JR helicopters. When fitting NHP tail blades make sure that there is no side to side rocking movement, this will ensure many hours of happy flying. If you are flying 3D it is recommended that the bushes are epoxied in place

Make sure your tail blades are the new type with modified root.

I have lost three sets of NHP tail blades while flying my Venture 90 earlier this year before I figured out what was wrong.

Hi Jon, thanks for the info. It seems like I have the newer tail blades as they fit very well with no side to side movement.

My Airskipper had it's maiden flight today and it was awesome! Rocksolid hovering with good crisp response when flying around. I can see I'm going to have loads of fun with this one!
