Hello I am finishing putting togeathr my new mini titan an I am trying to select the best pinion for my needs. I will be running a 3000kv outrunner on a 4s setup.
I know ho to figure my headspeed but I dont know what headspeed is ideal for my flying. The manual says to use 2600-2800 rpm headspeed. Others seems to be running theirs closer to 3000.
I am no 3d stick banger. I do hovering, fff, agressive fff, some rolls, loops, and learning inverted flying and hovering. How low of a headspeed can I run? I am looking for longer flight times.

Thank You, Noah

2500-2700 will be plenty and be easy on your lipo's. 10t pinion if you can find one. But I'm no expert.

Align should have the 10T pinion if you cant find one.

Gardner, Ticidytoc, Thank you guys for the input. My heli came with a 13t and a 15t & I ordered a 10t, 11t, & 12t when I ordered my motor so I will have one when the motor arrives. I knew that most 3D setups are in the 3000 range but I did not know how low I can go on the headspeed for my flying style. This info helps.

Another question if I may, What is the minimum headspeed before a 450 heli just wont act right?

Thanks again, Noah

I guess im outta the norm, right now im running 2300 on mine using a castle creations esc in gov mode. im still learning, i can do ff, fig 8's circles and hovering. i may move it up but now i get at least 9min of flight time like this.

Fire_paramedic,
Thanks for the response, I am glad to hear you are flying with that headspeed. It makes me more confident to experiment around with various ranges of gearing. I dont know if I am just weird but anything under 10min of flight time kinda seems like a tease to me. Maybe its cuz I fly with a friend that has a Zagi plane that I am chasing around and when I always have to come in first it stinks. Maybe its because of my more casual flying style? I suppose if I was zip zapping back and forth 3Din' I would be ready for a rest after 5-10 min.

Anyways fire_p. do you have a sim?
If not I highly recomend it. I have the pheonix RC sim and it is so very very like the real thing! The only thing that is not like real life like is the depth perception, but its about as good as it can be for being in 2D. I can practice new stuff over and over until it gets very comfortable and then go for it with the real thing and bam it feels very comfortable and easy. Before I had a sim I would get sooooo nervious trying anything at the edge of my comfort zone that I almost didnt progress at all. If you are flying figure 8's then you have the skills to fly pretty much all around anywhere you want to. Its often just a comfort and confdence thing.

What kind of motor are you running on your MT? I have the same esc as you.

I am very comfortable with that head speed right now and find it powerful enough right now for what i do. it seems to have puch and stability. i will try higher eventually. i just ordered a gov for me rappy 50v2 gonna try that on it since i have liked gov mode on my titan so much.
I do have a sim, Its.......... Phoenix also, i love it and am eagerly awaiting the upgrade. it has helped me progress and build me confidence and reflexes. just need more actual flight time.
I am running the stock motor and i am pretty happy with it, i went with the cc esc for the features.
