I think it is too small. It is rated for ~550W. We are flying with 3x that in the Hurricane now.
yuo want a motor than can handle 1500W bursts.

Ok, but I have a plettenberg orbit 25-12 laying around here somewhere... Would that work, and which pinion should I use with it?
It has a kv around 770 I think I recall.....

770kv is too low. You cant get a big enough pinion for it to have a good high head speed. With a Gaui 16T pinion and the stock gear the Plett. will get you ~1900 rpm head speed.
Most of us are flying at 2300-2500 rpm now.
