My esc does nothing when I plug two 3 cell lipos. Voltage is 24V. Can someone give me some ideas on what to check.
Using stock Hurricane 50A ESC. and motor.
4.8 volt battery to RX battery slot. All servos work fine.
ESC is plugged into throttle channel one on DX7.
Using DX7 with a A6000 RX.
Throttle setting in nomal are Linear.
Update,
I borrowed a battery from a friend and hooked up the esc thru the bec. Green lights on the BEC but still no tones. Resoldered all battery connections, still no tones. Changed rx, still no tones. It's been two days and no response from RC-Experts.
Any one got a 50A Gaui ESC their not using for sale or loan. I'll pay shipping.

first drop your throttle trim all the way down,
make sure the correct model is selected
make sure throttle is not reversed in the radio,
remove your main blades
plug in the esc and listen for the beeps,
If no beeps:
check your connectors on the esc and battery, put the voltmeter too them and make sure your getting current.
set your endpoint for low throttle
if you get beeps but motor dont turn:
check your throttle setting again
if all this does not work you may have a bad ESC

Thanks for your reply.
Throttle trim is at 0.
Correct model is selected.
Throttle channel is not reversed. I tried it both ways.
No beeps from the ESC.
Good voltage on ESC. I can hear the arc when i connect the battery.
I suspect the stock ESC is bad. My kit was supposed to come with the 7.2 battery and BEC but the battery was not shipped. I had a 4.8 battery that came with my DX7 so I hooked it up per the manual. Is anyone using a 4.8 batteryand no bec with the stock motor?

Yes that is what I am using also
Once in a while one of my deans connectors need some resoldering as it does not make a clean connection and then the esc will not activate
I would check these connections first as they were the cause of stress for me
I have experienced the same thing. Initially wanted to follow the manual guide to set throttle 'extent' so throttle at 100% and then plugged in - Nothing.
We then set throttle at minimum ie 0 and then plugged in and got all the beeps etc.
was abe to get heli into a hover no problem.
But my question is why is it not activating and going through the sequence as per manual.
This tells me I cannot get into programming mode.
For a heli this is a problem as the default setting is a plane !
Any ideas?
Thanks

You could try increasing the endpoints on the throttle servo to the max, if it won't arm after trying this then I don't think it ever will!
I have perhaps a silly question.
The BEC is plugged in to the barrety input on the receiver the ESC is plugged into the throttle . if you plug the battery into ESC WITHOUT the BEC on then the motor will not arm ? So the question - what is the correct sequence for powering up the bird. BEC then ESC(battery) OR ESC(battery) then switch the BEC on?
I still haven't been able to test the ESC or get it into programing mode.
Thanks

You must switch the Bec that powers the radio first, the ESC will not arm if it's switched off, this is a safety feature to stop the motor spinning when you connect it.
Steve Thanks
One other question if I want to reset the gyro after adjustment etc, and motor is connected to ESC and battery, can I just switch off the BEC and then on again or should I unplug battery and then re seequence everything?
Cheers

If you switch off the BEC and leave the ESC connected, the motor shouldn't spin but there's always that slight risk, you'll have to decide.

Anyone running a BEC off the main lipo batteries ? I see some of the BEC's will take the higher input voltage. I would like to do away with having a seperate battery for the BEC. Wonder how much it will reduce the flight times with a pair of 3s1p batteries feeding the BEC also ?

I see people use a 2S 1000 to 1200 mah lipo for their bec which lasts them 4 or 5 flights. Do the math....
7.4V, 200mAh => ~67mAh@22V, you won't notice that.

On my Swift I'm using a switching BEC with a 5V output off the main battery leads, I've not had any problems with it but for the Hurricane I'm going with a 2S lipo pack and an Align regulator/BEC. I don't think running a BEC off of the main pack will reduce flight times in the slightest, maybe a few second if that as you're converting 22V down to 5V and then only using an average of maybe 0.5A and thats generous so it draws about 0.1A from the 6S pack.

Thanks to all who replied. My defective esc is on it's way back to Hong Kong. RC-Expert said send it back for exchange. Problem is, the turnaround will likely be a month. Sure wish I would have known about US Vendors before ordering from HK. Shipping cost hurts. $25 for 3-5 days.
Also had mine replaced. The old one was totally DEAD - supplier confirmed it.
Frustrating for sure.
Now just trying to get mine into programming mode!
