sorry for your loss, contact the local pawn shops as well, I've had stolen goods show-up in a pawn shop and they are required by law to contact the police when there is question regarding theft. You may need to visit a few to see if your helis are on display. They will be in plain sight for customers to admire.
This is close to how pawn shops operate but not completely accurate. Pawn shops are required to record a detailed description of anything they take in, regardless of whether it's being pawned or sold. That ticket then has a copy go directly the the local police theft office (nowadays it's done electronically, so they get it instantly).
If the theft office sees a description of an item that they have in one of their theft reports, they contact the pawn shop immediately and have the item placed on hold pending an investigation. If the item then turns out to be stolen, it's returned to the owner and the pawn shop is out whatever they paid.
So the moral here? Make sure the police have a very detailed description of your stuff.
This whole thing really sucks and I sincerely hope you recover your gear. Good luck man!

I go as far as dremeling my name on several areas of things I own... I have my name dremeled on the inside of my frames (out of sight unless you were looking for it). My TVs have my name engraved, anything expensive gets some kind of unique identifying mark for this very reason.

gawd I hate a thief....btw, don't give out all your secrets on here....I hate to say it but apparently HF has a few thieves lurking around....check out "ripoffs, etc" in the for sale section of the forum to see a few folks to avoid.
my security apparatus inclues 2 dogs, perimeter fencing, security cameras, an AR15, and a colt 45 for close quarters anti thief combat operations.

Are you an AMA member, don't they cover theft?

Good luck, Hopefully they screwed themselves by stealing the helis, easily traceable.
It may be off topic but is there alot of crime there? I heard the term you need a gun in Oregon for more than just the bears... I wouldve presumed itd be like mayberry, Im from Chicago burbs.
Off topic, but what you heard is a pronunciation memory aid for those east of the Rockies.
Also written as Orygun for a memory aid. The "gun" is short and clipped, not a drawn out, exaggerated "gone"
As in, "Don't forget the gun in Oregon".
or
"Oregon", the state they cannot pronounce east of the Rockies.
Lesson over.
And I'm a South Dakota native where we have similar issues with non-South Dakotan's being unable to pronounce the name of the state capitol. Coyote, another one that identifies those not from South Dakota. Or "soda" vs "pop".:face "Dinner" "lunch" "Supper", etc.
Good luck with the helicopters and catching the thieves.

I hope you get them back undamaged, or your insurance covers them.
I think there are lot of people who would enjoy 5 minutes in a locked room with these scumbags. I hope you are not too traumatised by it.
best of luck.

You should print some pictures and drop them at any hobby stores in your area so they know what to look for.

Did you call Timmy, over at Tammie's Hobbies, and let him know to be on the lookout?

Sorry you got hit. I had the same thing happen to me over here in Bearverton a little over a year ago the thief got a Vibe ,Vigor, Trex600,450, couple 50 size Ergos, radios, planes 120-up size and bunch of guns. They caught the thief he ended up getting a 2 year slap on the wrist in Or. state penn. he was a career criminal but since there was no violence the laws just don't care. Anyway I have yet to get back a single item and my homeowners insurance covered about 1/3 of what I lost. I will keep my eyes open out at the flying fields around here and hope they nail the guy with a shoot first ask questions later attitude.

im pretty sure they are gone for good, but i am checking craigslist and ebay whenever i think about it. I dont think that they were going just for the helis, but they saw them while they were in here and figured that they looked expensive so they took them. I believe that they had a woman with them since they took most of my wifes makeup and some of her clothes and purses that were empty.
My insurance is doing a good job with the claim and i will get the full replacement cost for the helis minus my time of course, so that's a good thing.
My house is at the end of a private 1000' driveway, so they must have been checking us out before to see when we are home and when we are not. In the past ive had cars pull in and turn around like they were lost. Since then ive installed a locked gate to help deter anyone in the future, just last week about 3 miles up the road another house got broke into, my guess is that its the same people, i live in a rual area, one of the reasons that i wanted to live away from the city was the crime aspect, guess i was wrong :arggg:

Im in somewhat the same situation.Off the road/rural area.No real effective way to gate/fence the entire property. The justice system is a complete and total failure IMO.
There are literally 100s of thousands of them wandering around looking for stuff to steal.
They are empowered by the fact that even if they get caught there is no money to put them in jail so they are let go to continue on with their business. It is a crisis level situation.
Its even sadder when you catch them and give them to Law Enforcement and their response is along the lines of "what do you want us to do with them?". The justice system lets them go faster than they can process them.I have a whole theory about why this is but this isnt the place for it.
Make sure you have adequate insurance and expect to use it from time to time and hope they dont jack your premiums up too high.Thats about the best we can hope for at this point since most of the other alternatives are still unacceptable in a "civilized" society.
The whole thing is a huge recipe for disaster.

Security camera is your best friend. I have it all around my house. It is recorded 24/7 locally or remotely and I have it viewed live at my office computer. if I am away? i can view it through my phone.
Not even a fly can go into my house without me see it. LOL

Security camera is your best friend. . LOL
A pair of hungry rottweilers are even better friends. :)
I saw an episode of Cops once where a guy had his house broken in to. He had 2 large dogs inside and they just sat there without making a sound until the thief was inside. Then they proceeded to have a nice snack. The thief was gone but he left blood all over the floors, the furniture, the walls, the patio door...
When he was interviewed, the home owner said the first thing he was going to do was buy the dogs a pair of the largest, juiciest steaks he could find. :rotf

Wide angle peephole cameras that go in your door are also a godsend, especially in apartments. Wire one to an Axis 241S IP Camera server and you have one heck of a setup. Emails on motion, uploads to remote FTP, etc. The peephole cameras themselves are just analog, as they're tiny, however they look like standard peephole door scopes and most people would have no idea its a camera. The 241S converts the analog to a full IP camera setup.
I think I have 7 cameras here (all IP based) doing their thing. Nobody getting near my flat without me knowing about it, by the time they even get right to the front door, the Axis 241S will had emailed and uploaded about 30 pictures from the peephole....
And if they get inside? Well thats where the other cameras come in.... its pretty bulletproof unless a team of elite somebodys rappels down the side of the building into my windows thus bypassing the front door. (highrise)
Along with all the remote storage, of course I have full live viewing from anywhere in the world from PC, android, iPhone, etc.... none of the cameras face the external internet directly either, instead an Apache web server proxies the external requests over SSL thats protected with HTTP auth, so any IP camera exploits are useless.
I know its easy to spend a good 10 grand in this hobby, whats an extra grand or 2 to protect everything you have and be able to provide police valuable information?
And like was said, majority of robberies are from someone you have seen before someplace else.... so cameras are your best friend.

thats bs. stupid untrustworthy people. its someone you know or someone nearby that has seen you take your birds out to fly. no way its some random person in the city. they were planning it for months. watching and waiting for the perfect moment to break in. bring it up to all your friends and see how they react. if they know anything they will avoid eye contact and talk differently. and if you change the subject a liar will alway go with it to get past the thing their hiding.

Sorry, but this is why I keep firearms in nearly every room in the house. No, I wouldn't EVER fire at anyone for stealing material possessions, but you have to wonder how people this brazen would respond if they came into your home when you were still there.
glad to hear that your fleet was covered though. You have an awesome collection.
