Guys and gals,

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!

Myself and Steve Leonard have been working with Charley from Rotorworkz bugging him for an HS65MG servo upgrade kit and Rotorworkz has finally done it. The servo spacers are prototype material only and the kits will come with either G10 or carbon spacers, Charley wasn't sure which way he was going to produce the production spacers for the upgrade.

The following pics show a detailed installation in my G4 frame.

First this is what is included in the upgrade kit, the servo is NOT included just shown for clarity

The first step that Rotorworkz suggests and it worked out well for me is to CA (just a tiny drop) on the servo spacer and mount it on the HS65 servo as shown.

Next there is a button head screw included in the kit to replace the lower right side frame screw as detailed in the next two pictures. The first photo shows the old blue frame bolt.

and this photo shows the new kit frame button head bold installed.

The last thing that needs to be done for the upgrade is to slightly modfiy the right side frame, this was a very easy task with a small drum sander in my dremal, as you can see in the next two photo's I removed more material than is actually required, just a touch to allow the rear of the servo to clear the frame is needed.

Here are two Photos of the HS65MG servo's in the frame

and there you have it, a very simple upgrade for those that want to run HS65MG servo's on their G4 frames, it really is a very easy upgrade servo replacement and Charley said the kits won't "break the bank"

well now i know for sure the g4 frame is the frame for me. will this kit need to be bought aside from the frame kit ? or will it come with the frames for now on..i think they should add this on to the kit. why pay more just to run a different servo

I can say for certain that the HS65MG servos hold up quite well in a crash.

Right SteveL :WOW

why pay more just to run a different servo

well, it costs more to manufacture and supply the addtional parts, for one. i think if charley includes it in all the kits, the whole kit price will just go up slightly. but, like he said it shouldnt be a bankroll killer. if he can get the upgrade cost between $5- $10 i see no reason not to just include it with the kit and raise the price accordingly.

OTOH, if charley can somehow adjust his templates for the upper and lower bearing blocks to have the spacers built into the delrin pieces there shouldnt be any additional cost associated with the kit, aside from his computer time. users just wouldnt be able to run HS56s any longer without dremeling down the delrin. but,i think everyone agrees the 65MGs are the servo of choice on these 450 sized helis.

i guess we'll see shortly :smokin:

I am sure they will be quite reasonable. I think he was considering making them standard in the new kits (not sure)
Yes Clyde they stand up extremely well.
I Ain't scarerd

instead of drilling a center hole in the g4 bearing blocks why couldn't you pick up the holes from the 2 outer holes in the servo into the spacers and use the existing holes in the bearing block?

am i missing something here?

my bearing blocks are already predrilled. i think the idea is to just keep the parts count down.

i never noticed the center hole in the bearing block but i now see it is damn sure there. sweet.

now if i can just get my hands on the spacers...we'd be in high cotton.
