Hi All, I finally picked up my Hurricane today and have been at it all day...
I am using Hyperion 5s 3700 mah batteries and the motor that came with the kit ( 908 Kv ) seem to have more than enough ommph for my level of flying. I am just geting back into helis after 4 yer break flying 3d and Imac..
I got to say that there are still issues with this kit beeing an ARF...I did a complete rebuild and there are still lots of places that are missing locktite...like balls on swash..oh well, I enjoy building anyway hehe..
I am using spektrum system radio and also bought most of the bling parts as I like things to be smooth from the get go...only missing the metal headgrips and the head would be all metal. Those will come later when I upgrade the power system.
The weight with a 4cell recevier battery( Have not recieved my step-down yet) and the Hyperion 5s battery is about 1900 grams....very light for heli this size.
Also using the Logictech 2100 gyro and this is a very esay gyro to setup and use...no drift at all so far..well see if my old 9253 servo will hold up when I srat to push it a little bit more. I have so far only been hovering it in my backyard but will go fly it tomorrow.. can't wait
Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures its from a mobilephone camera...

Hi, just wanted to show of my new canopy that I just painted...
Also included a picture of how I mounted the battery..it is a tight fit but i works..
Also this eveneing I replaced the RX battery with a UBEC so that shared 100 grams in battery...so now its even lighter :)

flypilot,
I was under the impression the OEM motor is only 850kv and not 908kv. :dontknow Where did you get that number?

Well, I was under that impression myself, but Flying-Hobby which is where I bought my kit said it was 980 Kv...but I really can't tell since it has no markings what so ever....kinda strange...
My kit also came with the new hardened gears as well....so..all that is left now is to fly it hehe..

Feel free to :-) As I copied mine as well..from the Trex600N
I think it will show up well in the air..
Anyone know what one can look at to distinguish the different Kv motors that come with this kit?

I have not seen markings on either of the two gaui motors i have seen myself. kinda weird ? maybe inside the can?
Cool Canopy ! Cool workbench as well -
Quick question Flypilot how do you know you got the stonger gears ?
Just received my heli (3 weeks ) would like to know if I have them too.
Cheers

Hi Woz...
Well only clue to me having the new gears would be that it says OK on them..I think that is the only way to see..
Also was out flying to today and did som measurments..
I am using the 980 Kv motor that came with the kit and are using 5s 3700 lipo batteries and the 16 pinion...
With this setup I get 1800 RPM in hover...just barly enough for some light 3d training...In hover it draws 13 Amps and at full pitch pull out it draws 30 amps..
Good thing I have ordered the Z20 - 1470 Kv motor that should be here soon, that should get the headspeed up nice :D

...
Mine is about 2200 grams with a smallish rx nicad (700mah) and 2 X 3s1p 2200 lipos. But it comes off the ground very easily with plenty of throttle stick left.

Hi everyone..How can you tell which color wires from the stock esc, connect to which wires on the stock motor, since all 3 of the wires on the motor are the same color ?
I read all through the manual and search here for the information and come up empty.
Am I missing something real simple, sure feels like it :(
Thanks
Tom

Its no problem really, just just connect it and see which way the motor turn..if it is the wrong way you just swap two of the wires...thats it.

Oh, there goes my color coding deal :-) Is the black wire from the ESC the common one ? I mean if the motor is reversed, do I just swap the white and blue ?

Tom,
Just hook it up and test it. If the motor runs backwards simply swap any two leads. Standard brushless operation.
