OK, call me crazy (and yes, maybe cheap) but could this heli fly using 4 trex packs wired as a 22.2V 4200mah 15C pack? The reason I'm asking is because all you guys have these big packs mounted so it got me thinking that the weight on those big packs can be that different from 4 trex packs. I'm not going for any 3D, just for a reliable sports flyer capable of the usual loop/roll/180 stall etc. Also, I will not be using the stock motor, but something between 1200-1500W to compensate for the weight.

So any words of wisdom before I do anything stupid?

Yes of course you can. Longer flight times but with more weight & 4 packs to charge every time instead of 1 or 2.

Mounting them all at the front might end up a little nose heavy. You might end up with the extra two packs fitted underneath a bit further back to get a better CG.

Not everyone is now using big packs, mainly those who can 3D well & have big motors etc, not what you are using it for.

Why not just use two packs at a time if you are just zooming around. Decent flight time on the standard motor, light heli for nice handling. Land, slap on 2 fresh packs and off you go again...

6s2p gives you more flight time ~1.5x, but not 2x

I fly the 4 -2100 set up when I want longer flight times. They fit perfectly on the top and bottom battery skid if you put them label to label on that side. The straps I use will fit aroud them nicely. I was having cog problems with this until I put my rx pack (1200mah) at the rear of the frame. I velcro'd it there so it can easily be moved forward for 2 pack flying.
