The new Gaui HP gears are now tested and they do hold up for quite hard 3D.
After 15 flights, mainly tic-tocs, hard power climbs and everyting I could possibly do to strip these gears, they do cope with the power from the Z30 motor. I was a bit sceptic about it, but I can now comfirm that they do work as promised.
Really nice to be able to harvest the power of the Z30 without worries!
All new Hurricanes are shipped with these gears, and upgrade gears will soon be awailable.

This is a good news. But how to tell form the appearance aprat form the "OK" stamp on it? Is it thicker or of different material?

Tom, is it just a new tougher 'ok' material for the 42t gear, or are other gears now being made from the new material too?
Does it get a new part number, or does it keep the old number?
Be nice if it had a new number so we could be sure we are ordering the latest replacement gear & not getting old non 'ok' stock.

From the pictures I can see a VERY slight difference. Look at the teeth, the new version's teeth seem stouter at the "hub". Is it just me or did/does anyone else notice this?

They are made in a new tougher material. Got a couple of more flights today and these gears really holds up. Finally Gaui got it right!
No idea of the parts number yet, sorry...
Both the 42T and 61T are being made in this material. I must say, I donīt think I ever have had so much fun with ANY heli as this one. With the amazing power from the Z30 and good 6S packs, you can look like a 3D pro without being one  I have over 250 flights on my old baby, and still, it amazes me!

Wow, that is a really impressive number of flights.
Considering you probably only got your Hurricane around the 7th of December 2006 that means you have averaged about 1.2 flights per day.
And all things considered, like the weather, charging batteries, weekends, the weather, fixing broken heli things, the weather, and working, that really is an impressive number of flights.
Just sort of curious how you do that?

Based on the way they are jumping in with both feet I'm thinking Ready Heli will be bringing us the best of the best for our Hurricanes. Why shop anywhere else? I know I won't.

Tom Viper.....are you the same guy that was the Corona Guy?
Tom Viper

Yep, thatīs me :D "The Corona guy", ages ago.
Revco gears are CNC Delrin (?) and will offcourse run more true and quiet.
But stock Gaui HP gears are cheap, and works great for "low cost".

John,
I just ordered a stock replacement 42T gear because you were out of the revco's. Will this be the new Gaui gear or old stock?
Thanks,
John

Delrin gears are really quiet. My Gaui feels completely diffferent as the gear noises went away. :badair:

I am sure the new Gaui gear will be good but keep in mind you only have 3 gear ratios with them. With the RevCo gears you have 8 with highter and lower ratios than the Gaui gears.

Until I get to try the new Gaui gears I am NOT going to say they are fine!!!!
No offense to Tom Viper but he was saying how he was getting all these flights on the stock gears running Z30 motor etc (this was on RCG) and it wasnt until others started stripping gears (like myself) that he chimed in and agreed the gears wont last!
Tom has a vested interest here as he is selling the heli so..... Take this with a grain of salt!
Tom be pissed at me if you want but right now I aint buying it buddy!!!! I couldnt get more than 2 flights out of the stock gears but I saw your posts on RCG how you were getting all this good flying and sorry but I dont see how and thus UNTIL others can use these I aint going for it and I will stick my neck out and say WE NEED TO SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT!
One think I will say is Adrians gears WORK and work well.... That I know and will stand behind.....
Time to get real folks and lets see some flying on the new Gaui gears before everyone starts trusting them!
USERS NOT sellers need to give feedback!

First of all, I do not like to be questioned about my reliability! I have NO intrest in telling lies or mislead! I had my Hurricane since November. We where the first in the world to have it! And I did not make all flights with the Z30, never clamied that. Iīm not pissed Bob, but keep to facts. As you can read on RCG, I used the Z20 motor for a very long time. This motor (1470KV) and 15T pinion together with the 61T main gear never ripped ANY gears. I used it on both 5 and 6S. With first EVER version Gaui gears! I later changed to the Z30 motor, and this was when the problem with stripped gears came.
About the number of flights, well, we have flown approx 4 days a week, between 3-10 flights every time, in all weathers. I acctualy made a video when I was flying in 25-30 m/s storms over here. (http://www.ezfly.se/Video/hurricane_storm_web.wmv) so this might tell of what weathers we fly in.
Bob, if you only get 2 flights, you better check your setup. There are many people here that reads your posts, and wonder what you are doing wrong. Since many of them are running the same setup. One guy acctually uses 550 blades. I am NOT saying that the old gears are fine, but they do last alot longer the 2 flights.
It dosen't matter what YOU say about the new gears, you think, but I KNOW they are fine, beacause I flown them.
One should ALWAYS take everything here with a grain of salt...Not so long ago Bob jumped readyheli about there motor and headspeed.
No offence, but It can be dangerous with a self claimed heli god :D
And as always, I am a hobbyist first, second and third, then I do run a store. But try to find ONE post, where I try to sell anything!!!

Just to clarify, I am absolutly not saying that the new Gaui gears are better or even close to the CNC made RevCoīs. They will probably never be! I am still trying to get my hands on your gears Adrian...A friend of mine got your gears, and boy oh boy...
I AM saying that the new HP gears works fine, they hold up even with the Z30. And that is a good thingy :D Maybe not for the hardcore 3D style we have seen from Readyheli videos, but for most of us "normal" 3D fliers. I have really tried to strip this new gears, to the best of my ability.

Yea OK.... I will go for this....... Check my setup. :lolol
You have all seen my setup and I have documented EVERY STEP. So OK... once again I have nothing to gain buy saying anything good or bad. You? Hmmm well is there a bias? Only going on history Tom......

Heli god.... yea sure... More like I tell it like it is.... No god here and I have NO REASON to spout pro's or con's Tom.... You?
I AM saying that the new HP gears works fine, they hold up even with the Z30. And that is a good thingy
Again this time around Tom until I see it I aint going for the statements from people that have a commercial interest in the product. Yes I ripped into readyheli for a similar reason! So what? What does that mean? Whats the point there?
You all can look through this old post from when I began with this heli and judge for yourself hype vs user experience and not just my experience either.

Let's enjoy sharing our own experience. Sometimes it is so happy to solve a problem.

No, I donīt! Things that are not 100% SHOULD surface, thats what these forums are about. But saying you get 2 fllights, when more people running the same setup as you, and flies alot more.
No offense to Tom Viper but he was saying how he was getting all these flights on the stock gears running Z30 motor etc (this was on RCG)
Still, show us all the post where I claimed all flights on the Z30 as you so easly put it. If you canīt do this maybe you should think of who you are calling a lier!
When yourīre at it, show one post where I try to sell ANYTHING!
And you're right, I am pissed! Wouldnīt you be if I called you a lier?

Sorry to say but I got 2 flights running Z30 and original motor mount. When the new mount came out I got a few more but not much.
Still, show us all the post where I claimed all flights on the Z30 as you so easly put it.
No problem.... Here you go:
RCG post http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7172457&postcount=709
We have gone the other way, putting on 515-535mm blades, but we are also using the Z-Power motors, both the Z20 and Z30. I have now over 100 flight on mine, and my friend is closing in at 50-60 flights. He has the luck that he can fly over lunchtime, me, who works in the middle of the city has no such luck...
Here is another on RCG:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7333768&postcount=838
And yes, there is some diffrence in the performance between the Z20 and Z30, the Z30 has almost to much power. But the Hurricane seems to coop well with this. Even if I have a less power, Its plenty enough.
You need to be very carefull setting the gear mesh when using the Z30, one falls move and you rip the gears clean. Done the right way, it hold forever.
The Z20 is a little more forgiving about this.
Both of these were way before the new motor mount came out.
I can also show posts where when the new mount came out "this will solve all the propblems" quote. It didnt. At least not for many of us!
Now in the end it may look like I am calling you a lier but I am not. I am calling it hype because obviously we fly differently and expect more. I am saying I wont go for the new gears being ALL THAT until they are run and shown to run hard! If you got 60 flights with a Z30 and the old motor motor mount or even that many with the new motor mount you must not be flying the way many want to see a powered up hurricane fly and I am not even that hard a 3D flyer!!!
This is why I got in your face. Adrian did not go spouting his new gears until they were tested and shown with video and more than one person backing them up, to be tested and worked hard.
Bottom line Tom you sell these things and just like when I got on Readyheli, sellers posting hyped up stuff are going to get some scrutiny from me from time to time. Wont be the first time nor the last I am sure. So get PO'ed.... I dont care. When I see these gears perform and run reliably then I will not get all over a post stating they are great.

Funny thing, in the exact post you refer to, I clearly say I am running the Z20.
A friend of mine was running the Z30 from day one. But he got his much later then I did. This guy are flying 3-6 flight every day(!). 2-3 at lunchtime and then every night. He started flying in Dec last year, and has become a decent 3D flier allready.
I am going to drop this, no point going on about it. I hope you can get the new gears and try them yourself. Hopefully they will work for you as well.
The reason I promote this heli, is not of economical intrests, its because I like flying it. My other helis sits at home most of the time, and since december, I have almost only flown the Hurricane.
Have a nice weekend. Here we are waiting for some better wheather. I will post a video on mine, with the new gears as soon as possible.

I'd love to see a video with a comparison of the performance between a high end 6S 25C LiPo and 7S A123 M1 battery packs. Is that something you could produce?
I mean do a few things like fips/rolls tic-tocs with each pack so it's possible to decide whether A123 M1 cells is something for the hurricane.

Tom,
Your hurricane in the storm video... very intense flying conditions!
The audio intro w/ Conan the Barbarian-like merging into techno music was cool and then.... just when I was feeling the flow of the video you exceeded all of my expectations. I broke out the 1 pound block of bubble gum and by golly, that video had me blowing & popping bubbles and shaking my butt like a French Poodle in heat! And THENNN the "Last of the Mohicans" soundtrack kicked in and i'm all :( weeping. That video has it all wrapped up into 1 nice and neat lil package... now im emotionally distraught and need a fix!
MOREEE videos with the Hurricaneeeee pleaseee!
