I planned to use Raptor links in my new Hurricane, however I wonder if Gaui has fixed this problem with the short rods. They look fine to me with the Gaui ball links, and the Raptor ones are actually to long. Anybody know this for sure?

On my kit, which I put together two days ago I had to still use some raptor links...
Like on the elevator, pitch and roll I only needed to use two links, on the rudder one was needed and then again one on the link up to the mixer arm to straigten the arm out a little to get 0 pitch at center stick.

I used Rocket City links & balls, the links are much longer and when fitted to the correct length you can't see any of the thread on the rods.

I used the rocket city links also and that was the first experience with them. I will never use any other links again! those things are super precise. not being directional on the ball lets me get a much better adjustment. I have since fitted all of my helis with them! cheap too, 20 or 30 cents ea

Yeah! Only problem is that Rocket City as a company seems to be out of business from what I've seen so far. I got Raptor links for my bird but it's a good thing I got two packs as they are hit or miss for consistency. Many were cut way too deep and were more useless than the Gaui links. Threading didn't start until halfway in on most of them. I got lucky and out of two packs ended up with a complete linkage set. I've used Rocket City in the past and would prefer them but couldn't find any this time. We need a reliable link to someone that sells them. Sounds like something that Ready Heli needs to carry. Looks like John and Jennifer are going to be the GO TO people for Hurricane parts and info! They should be a Racket City dealer!

guys, if you are using small wheels or stock wheels with the futaba or jr servos, they can only hold your linkages out to 25-26mm...in order to prevent interaction and binding, they must be parallel...at approx 27-28mm apart...stock linkage lengths are not long enough, however with the supplied t arm they give you with s9451's we did not encounter this problem...you can use ball links that are slightly oversized, or just longer linkage rods, such as tt's pvo240, which contains two usable rods per set.

One other thing to mention, sorry for the post hijack in advance, we are stocking foot long sections of 2-56 fully threaded rods, and will be available on the site in a couple of days.
Just clip what you need...1 ft is about what you need to replace the ones on your hurricane.

The thing about these rod lengths is that they are dependant on the distance from the cranks on the heli to the servo shaft. Not all servos are exactly the same size so the distances can change slightly with different servos.
Bob was building his with the Spektrum servos. I just had a look and as an example, there is about 3mm difference in length between the DS821 servos and Futaba S148's.
I built mine using servos that came with a combo-kit, I had to drill holes in the servo horns to match the template with the offset etc. but on mine the links were fine, not tons of overlap but well within the acceptable tolerance.
So My guess is that Gaui have not changed those at all but the variation from one person's build experience to another might be accounted for by the dimensions of different servos.

EXACTLY! We had this discussion way back when this forum only existed in my build thread post. Some digging in that old thread (now here in this forum) will show that people using different servos may not have a problem and some did.
Anyway good job reminding us of this fact! Heck I almost forgot about that ;)
In the end however I think the rods should be longer to support servos that cause this problem. Additionally the heli STOCK should dump the dang offsets!!! They serve no purpose other than make it a pain to get the servo wheels drilled correctly.

I don't think there is enough variation between servos to make the rods 'all right' or 'too short', they're just plain short! I ordered the alloy aileron and elevator cracks so I didn't have to set the balls offset on the servo arms - why on earth was it designed like this, I can't see any justification for it at all :dontknow

I would be nice to have a Gaui representative on this forum  All these questions go unanswered...and in the end people will stop asking..perhaps..

I think its more likely to be we will finish the R & D on the product for them
