3s Balance wires, can I install my own?

I have (3) older TP 2100mah 3s batteries that take a full charge but they don't have balance leads on them. I bought them in late 2005 and never used the batteries until now.

I found a site that tells how balancer wires are installed on a Li-Po, has anyone done this?

I'd like to use a balancer on these batteries to help increase the longevity of these batteries. All 3 batteries have over 20-30 charges on them and they work well.

Yes, it is possible. For a 3 cell to have a balance tape add. Im incapable of telling you how to wire it.

Before you wire it you have to decide what type of charger your using it on. Cuz diffrent charger have diffrent patters type. And a missmatch wire can lead to breaking/wrecking a battery or charge or wost, a fire.

If that site has info post a link so that other may share it if needed. When you solder these make sure the connections never hit and that the heat is not on the battery to long! But long enough to make a good connection. And to be safe do it in an enviroment were if worst happened and a cell got to hot and went up in smoke. It will do the least amount of votage.


Hear is an example of a align type 2 cell balance tape add. TO be compatable with a Align type/pattern charger.

The following pic is the wire pattern on a 3s need for an ALIGN type charger. TP and FP have there own. So double cheak the type of charger you have v.s. what type of lead you want.

Thanks! I've got to do this with mine. I'm going to use TP balance plugs.

I was also thinking about re-shrink wrapping with holes pre-cut on the sides of shrinkwrap. I'm thinking it should help keep the batteries a bit cooler.

The spaces do help keep some ventilation going. Glade this helps. Keep us update for reference.

Im not familiar with TP but I know the 3e madels have a foam on each end in the middle between cells for ventilation.
