Default I really messed up my build!

I have built many RC models so I thought that a heli would be no problem  Followed the directions but must have missed a few things, took the heli to the local club and some parts of my head were on upsidedown Then heard that the composit swash would most likely fail.....then watched Bob's video (hard to get on dial-up) and found out most of my ball links are on backward

Now I have all of my new parts in the mail and hopfully will have my Christmas present in the air by August Anyone else have this sort of thing happen? It is very frustrating looking at my heli sit on the shelf every day for six months LOL

Hi Termite. I know what you mean. Mine is down for a rebuild right now. It is pretty complicated and takes a good bit of time.

I am just replacing the old swash now during a rebuild. I got mine in march 2006 and never did the mod. I tried pushing on the inner bearing and couldn't push it out so continued to use it. I probably got lucky so I got a new one now. You could just press it out and re-Locite. There is thread on this https://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic....ight=swash+fix and a link Align has within that thread. Those swash plates were replaced about a year ago though, how old it yours?

If you didn't ream out the ball links oversize they are probably OK from just putting them on a couple of times backwards. You can tell if they take quite a bit of force by hand to come off it either direction they probably are OK.

Good luck.

Awesome, after watching the vid I just figured I messed them up. When I'm changing the swash this week I'll just check them to make sure they are good.

To pass the time I bought a Blade CX and played around with that for a month or so then sold it so I have had some air time

Get a Sim. Not having one will cost you more then the Sim.

I have the FSone, but I figured I would use it with my current radio and have not been able to get it set up. I have had that since november, I finally ordered the radio that comes with the sim.

My first helicopter was a Walkera 4. That thing I had to work on constantly and chase motor problems. My second helicopter was a Walkera 36. OMG I can't believe I still wanted to go forth after that.

By the time I got the Trex 450SE V2 I was a skilled technician final honed and dialed in to crushing problems. Checking for loose screws and worn parts in critical areas was as natural as breathing for me. I can shake a helicopter and hear something wrong with it!

I routinely put the ball-links in backward. Sometimes 1/2 turn is just what it takes to get the tracking dead-nutz perfect. Never had a problem. I finally had to replace the ball-links that connect directly to the blade grips after 120 pretty hard flights. If you look at the geometry you'll see that these links take the most abuse since everything else has leverage on them. They were both on backwards and worked fine until they started wearing out.

I've snapped my links on 180 out a few times with no problems also. They're plastic, so they do give a litttle. I'm wondering why they are made that way to begin with. Why can't they be universal? Then this whole subject could be eliminated.

Default I know I'm hard-headed

I have probably spent more than enough money to pay for the G3.5 sim three times on parts and freight since last spring. I finally listened and bought the G3.5.

After flying some of the other heli models on the sim, I have began to wonder if the Trex 450 is the best first heli. We'll just have to see....

Oh well, if you ain't makin' mistakes you ain't doin' nothin'.

I've often wondered about this too. I had a bunch of them on wrong after I completed my build. I had SO MANY prople warn me to always keep the A side out, that I just do it naturally now. it WOULD be nice to be able to only go a half turn on the adjustments, though!!!

Rocket City links are symmetrical.
