I have a bergen intrepd and I am looking for some basic advice.... Most of the time when I try and start the heli it doesn't want to start.... I use the choke at times and ssome times that helps but not always. These seem like pretty basic engines to get going but I am fairly new. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I start with 1 3/8 turns out on both needles, pump the carb bulb for solid fuel feed, choke for two pulls and then its good to go.
Running 87 octane and Blue Marble oil or something else?

I do use blue marble and 87 octane. My intrepid doesnt have the bulb to push.... As far the choke goes.... is that just the piece that either opens or restricts the the air into the carb?

Yes the choke just opens or restricts the venturi opening to choke the engine .
Push the arm to choke position (so the venturi is closed ) ... . pull the starter until you hear it pop the first time and then move the choke to open and continue to pull ... if everything is right it usually will start in the next pull or two.

If your carb doesn't have the primer bulb then somebody changed the carbs at some point. Look on the carb for a set of numbers, 643,644,645 or even 603.
This is a G26 engine, correct?
There are 2 possibilities for chokes, one in the black plastic air filter, or one built into the carb, NOT to be confused with the butterfly that is a requisite part of the carb and controlled by the throttle servo.
May also want to hook up with Gary for some more instruction time.
