Anyone tried this...
Im tempted to try but unsure if it will work with kontronic esc.
(I read of it not working other than with Castle... Ive had enough fires thanks. )
Im running a kontronic 80hv with heat sink.
Seen a few videos from KDE but anyone got some experience.....

I have been using that motor for quit a while now, with a two year old CC 100 ESC.
If your 80 HV has the KSA mode (my guess is) it should work.

To take full advantage of the 600XF 65C battery's are needed. This motor is HEAVY and the weight shows.

What's the power increase like?
Are flight times decreased?

It bugged me also about this motor as not being kontronik friendly:quotes with its price tag. I agree that KSA mode is the golden default when one is not sure about a motor and I would run this motor with that setting if I had any doubt.

As far as ESC size goes, even with a 600mx I was able to get a thermal shutdown as well as another member running into a similar problem (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=395704) on a motor that only pulls 2000/3000 watts. Yes mine was without the heatsink, but temps outside were not above 70°and plate came down about 120° - 130°. So I can only image that it will happen even easier with the 600XF motor.

I've Been flying my 80 kontronic with heat sink with tp 65c thunderpower with 553 edges in 35 degrees c heat here in Australia.
600mx motor no problem

Seems reading that thread why is everyone running such a small pinion. Someone is running a 13. That will cause a lot of heat running esc st 50%
I'm running a 16 toother governed to 2400 throttle at 87%

What is meant by KSA mode & how would i know if my ESC supports it (YGE brand).
What other motor would you use that would be better than a 600MX. I have seen other posts saying the 600MX isnt bad/good compromise.

I'm running a 16 toother governed to 2400 throttle at 87%13t was my setup and I have now added a heatsink with a piece of thermal tape (I have not really pushed the setup that hard in a while, tomorrow it might happen ).

With a calibrated esc and a TC of 50 the PWM is higher on the ESC (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=392485)

Just a little thread to show what these esc's are capable of and running a low TC - http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=346267 :wow2:

Thanks for the links. Interesting.
Looks like I need to go up around 1-2 teeth on the pinion.
I'm currently using the 16 tooth pinion which cones in the 550 kit.

Yes lots of good info and things that people don't mention with these high end esc's. With an 18t you would have a nice range of RPM's to checkout from 1930 (about 30% TC Calibrated) to 2600. I think the lowest that I would care to take my TC curve down to would be 30 (I don't know just seems low enough from a gut feeling) and would put my HS in the 2060 area with a 115/13 gearing.

I set my Elect heli up to fly for 4 min, NO LESS! And to use only 75% of a (100% charged) 5000 batt. At times for fast charging batt top off is set at 96 or 98%.

I was running a Scor 4025-1100 with 164x18 gearing with 520 FBL blades. The Scor would not give me the solid govern head speed of 2400 that I wanted.

With the some set up but using the KDE 1175 motor my gov HS is 24++ but can only pull it off with TP 65C battery for 4 min.
All BS aside, I have tried a few other 5000 65C (because of price) and they end up puffed using 85% of batt.

IMO...the KDE 1175 is a high gear ratio motor for 3+ min flights with 65C.

Thanks for the info.....
Sounds like this Kde motor is a bit of a pack killer just like the old trex600 was.....
Looks like if you wish for more power goIng up in cell count is the go.

To me, the biggest attributes of the KDE 600XF-1175 over the stock Align 600MX motors are the 8-fold improvement in vibration and smoothness, and ability to safely use a 17T pinion with 550mm blades.

I can't speak on kontronik with this motor but I can talk about the motor. I have ab a yr flying now and have been on it pretty heavy I started with a 550 and once I was comfortable with it I upgraded the motor to the 600xf. From the logs (ice 100) I actually got 3100watts out of the stock 600mx 13/115 gearing edge 553. With the kde I have pulled 4400 and everything else same. (almost 1/3 increase) Big change is noticed in tic tocs and fast direction changes where the kde doesn't bog nearly as fast. It is a very cool running motor but as stated above it will eat a weak pack. I run 45-65c for 4 min at 2500HS/12.5 deg pitch. anyway I found this thread just doing a little research on the kde 530kv. Being that with how I fly I plan to sale my 600xf-1175 + ice 100 and replace it with the 530kv and run 12s. I'm hoping the 12s configuration will be easier on packs. Comparing my 700 on 12s to this 550 on 6s, in regards to battery strain, the 550 is alot harder. And the 700 has scorpy 4530LE lol

550=8lbs on 6s pulling 4400 at peaks
700=11.5lbs on 12a pulling 8500 at peaks

I have tuned down my machine a little in the vbar, lowered agility and gyro gain, more vivid. Now I can fly soft and nice with this motor and it's not so hard on the packs anymore :) especially with 520-blades I think it's not so risky for the packs, I run some different packs, some of them are Zippy 5000mAh 25C and they work really great too (but with hard settings and 550-blades it will kill them!)

This motor is HEAVY and the weight shows....it weighs 334g and the MX 328g

I have one bank set like yours but I don't use it much as of now. Switch to it with a lower HS and it is much easier on the packs. I'm still wet behind the ears and the agressive feel is too much fun so I'll just bite the bullet for now. Maybe as I get a little better and can really do nice graceful full flight at lower HS then I'll fly tamed down. This is very true tho

I tested a little yesterday with two different HS/banks:

Anyone tried this motor with a kontronic 80 hv.
Im keep to see if its conpatible.

If so I will buy one.

The KDE Direct XF series are compatible with the Kontronik HV controllers, and numerous customers are running various Kontronik/KDE Direct combinations with great success. On the controllers that have the programming functionality, "KSA" mode is recommended (such as the newer HeliJive series) for further improvement on the run-time and governor control with the motors. If the controller does not offer "KSA" mode, then the default Heli Mode is the best option.
