What do the experts think of the new MaxAmps 6s 10000 15C pack for AP on a TRex600 ?
http://www.maxamps.com/products.php?cat=24
FlightPower EVO25 - 5000 mAh 6S1P (~$300)
25C/35C/50C (125A/175A/250A)
54 x 44 x 166mm , 799g
MaxAmps 10000 mAh 6S1P (~$325 plus optional $65 for 3yr/300cycle warranty)
15C/20C/30C (150A/200A/300A)
59 x 62 x 158mm , 1220g
Same ballpark price as FP 6s 5000 25C but more power and double the capacity. They are about 450g heavier but the extra power and capacity will more than make up for the extra weight. Also you can buy a 3yr/300cycle guarantee. If the weight penalty is tolerable I thought they might be an interesting option for AP work.
Any thoughts ? Is the extra weight worth the extra duration ? Anyone tried them ?
Thanks for your advice,
Kenneth

I have a very light front mount on my Trex and could haul the extra weight of the Maxamps. But at this point, I haven't found the need for the extended flight time.
I could see their application benefits in the future, when charging options don't exist and I have to carry all my batteries into the shooting location. Then it would be nice to have more 'fuel'.

Most of my flights with my Trex600 cam ship are quick 2-4 minute hops but as I am also looking at hanging a video cam underneath, duration of over 10 minutes may be attractive...

Speaking of charging, you will need a charger with at least 230W output power to be able to charge a 6s 10000 battery at 1C. The common high end chargers are:
eStation BC8 (150W/7A)
Hyperion 1210i (180W/10A)
eStation 902 (200W/9A)
TP1010 (220W/10A)
So only the TP1010 is close to the mark for 1C charging and none of these can go above 1C on a pack this large.
TP1010 is the most powerful charger I am aware of and it is 220W.

I switched over to 10s for duration on my trex600. Also semi symm blades helps too.

thanks but, those are 660 and 700 semi symms. Pete is using his trex 600 for AP and those are too long. Would be great for a stretched 600 tho!
Rotortech makes a real nice 610mm CF semi symm that i fly with my 600.

Thanks - I have just contacted my local distributer. I'm after something that helps the Trex600 (and it's 835 gram payload) a little longer.
We are new to this AP game and I have spent a lot of this week sorting out liability insurance, health 'n safety crap (don't we cater for the lowest brain power these days). I had my first cold-contact meeting today on a council project manager and have probably picked up 6 projects (monthly roading build progress) instantly. Quite scarey at first but... we can do this.

how do those semi-symm. rotor tech CF blades autorotate?
my TREX 60 will be haulin up a pentax k100D with a large lens in a few days that weighs 2.5 lbs, without the underslung mount, which I am guessing will be 1 lb? :dontknow
I have 600mm V blades right now, and I'm not sure my heli can tow up this camera
