Hi,

I think I have succeded to reach the worlds top 10 list when it comes to number of problems that can occur on a Hurricanes lifetime.

My latest funny problem is the Swash plate that has separated, see picture.

My quesiton to everyone, is is possible to locktite it in place or should I buy a new one ?

Mine did this after a big crash - I just green Loctited it back together. I've had a good dozen or so flights on it since, so Im assuming the bond is good.

I green'ed it, left for 24 hours and then tested the strength thoroughly before flying. It was very strong, so I tried it out.

Thansk for reminding us to check that. This is exactly the same problem of early Trex 450SE swashplate. Trex600 is a bit cleverer by having the central hub OD rim larger than the ID of the bearing. So instead of pulling apart, the Tres 600 swashplate central hub can only be push downward but not apart as the ball screw prevent that.

Mine is over 200 flights and the swashplate bearing shows some free play. I am certain I will put this on the service list soon.

JB weld also works. Did it to mane a 450 swash many moons ago :Slap

JB weld seems to be normal epoxy, right.

Don't think it is considered 'regular epoxy' because unlike regular epoxy JB Weld is supposed to be able to be machined after it has fully cured.

There are some other differences as well.

JB Weld actually contains metal particles from what I have gathered. It is very very hard - much harder than epoxy. I fixed my Trex 450 swash with JB Weld a few months ago and it is fine now - very strong bond.

thanks halfcab1981 and I agree of course. Also it seems JB Weld is not as "brittle" as standard epoxy.

Official Response concerning this from GAUI.

The problem has been solved since February of this year. The swashplate you are using unfortunately is a fairly old version sold through several indirect hands. Gaui has sent out a mass volume of this part to replace the one in their regular dealer’s inventory. This individual dealer must have got it through a second hand or third hand in the channel and not a direct dealer or distributor of GAUI's. All GAUI dealers and distributors have received a swash refresh.

Tornet, please contact the person who sold that to you. You are entitled to get a free upgraded swash plate!

For Ready Heli customers, dealers, and those curious: The one in your hands from us is an improved version. All the standard version we have acquired from GAUI has an improved swash plate installed! No worries!
