I am not much of a veteran to posting to this forum but I thought I would give it a try. Usually post more on another helicopter forum but I wanted to stir up some interest on this on. I will be posting a schedule of events for our funfly soon after perhaps getting back from IRCHA. However would like to let everyone know that we plan on having one of the best events and best helicopter funflies ever put together, or at least one of the best we have ever put together. Lots of prizes and big name pilots as well as small name pilots too :D
So just wondering who from this forum is interested in coming to our event the Southern Rotary Classic in Mt. Pleasant Tx on Sept 21-23, to see Alan Szabo Jr, Scott Gray, Andy Rummer, Bobby Watts, Bert Kammerer and many others?

It is my plan to come.
I bet even my wife will want to come and see Alan Szabo fly.
When we went to the 2002 TOC, we saw a demo flight of helicopter aerobatics. I am pretty sure it was Danny Szabo (or, if anyone knows for sure who did that demo at that event, I'd love to be hear). Whoever it was, he was a very memorable part of the already spectacular event.
I know, that going to an event like this is bound to inspire me to come home and fly fly fly.
I see I need to be there by 10AM Saturday. I am very interested in seeing the novice compete. I want to see how good I need to get before I start competing. I want to know what type of maneuvers are done by the novice class. Watching a competition will be perfect.

Here are some people that have already committed to coming to our event. It is one of the best events we have ever planned here in Mt. Pleasant. We have people from 3 countries outside of the United States that will be here as well. We will be doing some of the same things that Ircha did with great afternoon demos some really great night flying demos, auto contest, novice contest, targret drop??? Not sure just yet but "possibly" 3 different helicopters to be given away and other prizes as well. You don't have to do a demo to enjoy flying whether by day or night. We have a HUGE field with plenty of flight stations. We already have some Vendors scheduled to come and any others are welcome to attend as well.

If you are interested in getting a Logo 6003D I am sure you will be glad to see Andy Rummer from Germany at our event since he flies a Mikado Logo 6003D. Stop by and introduce yourself to me, I want be hard to find, I am one of the contest directors and will be MCing the event for the Weekend. I will introduce you to Andy if have not already meet him and would like to do so, (or anyone else that would like to meet any of our featured pilots). I am sure Andy will probably be able to answer any questions you might have about the Mikado Logo products.

I would LOVE to see that heli up close and personal. (though I am really leaning toward a 5003D v-bar)

I believe Andy flies a variety of Makido Logo prodcuts and will be doing demos with them and should be able to answer any questions about them.
Scott Gray flies a Vibe and will be able to answer any questions about them.
Alan Szabo flies Avant and T-rex 600 electrics and should be able to tell you about them.
Bobby Watts as well as Bert Kammerer fly different heli so feel free to ask them questions about there helicopters.
We may have some buddy boxing with one of the pilots for those with some intermediate or above flying skills, still have to do some checking but hoping to get that done, not official just yet.

I would pay money (or donate a body part?) to see how a v-bar equipped bird handles.
What a cool idea, loveraptors

I'm really debating coming out as a spectator since it's relatively close to home (about 2.5 hours). I probably will have just begun learning to fly my Diablo, so my skills definitely won't be up to snuff to participate in this event, but maybe I'll be ready in a year or two.

Thats what funflys are all about. Bring your gear and get all the advice and help that you could possibly use. If it wasnt for fun flys I'd have given up long ago and every funfly I go to I learn something new and make a few new friends.
Plus its way cool to see the top dogs doing their tricks up close and personal. If you are into heli's, you'd be crazy not to go to this one.

Don't debate about it. We are hoping to have one of the best funflies you could possibly go to this side of IRCHA. It's true we will have a lot of expert guys there, but we want to help the beginners as well. There will probably be some people there to buddy box with you, and my friend Michael Prewitt will be there and I am sure he will be able to answer a lot of question to the guys that are just getting started as well as set up of their helicopters so bring your helicopter as well. You don't want to miss this funfly and you don't have to register but if you do, you will have an oppertunity to win some nice prizes. So come out over :)

I can only afford the time to come out on Saturday. However, I'll bring my Diablo with me if I have all the pieces put together by then (a mighty big IF).

Do you want names of participants or do you want spectators that may or may not fly included?

Hello Bum
You sound like someone I know? I have a friend that lives in the Dallas area and I kiddingly refer to him as The Bum, however he does not live in Mckinney unless he just move there? Also what is a Diablo, is that some line of helicopter or is it some type of RC car or some type of game? If it is an rc helicopter then it is new to me?
But to answer your question about names of participants or spectators we are just trying to get an estimate of what heli pilots might be coming whether they fly or not doesn't really matter. But if you are attending the event, by all means, put your name down on the party list.

Not likely. I'm originally from Kansas and have lived in McKinney since 1992. I got my nickname when I was a student at Kansas State University due to me hardly ever studying and still getting better grades than the heavily studious people.
Also what is a Diablo, is that some line of helicopter or is it some type of RC car or some type of game? If it is an rc helicopter then it is new to me?
It's a 450 sized electric heli based on the T-Rex but better quality and with an overslung flybar: http://www.rct450.com

Is there any fun-flying while the main events are going on? I finally got my maiden flight with my RC-Tek Diablo today and think I might be ready by then, but I was only planning to come out on Saturday. If the fun-flies are only on Friday and Sunday, I may try to alter my plans.
