I would like to get an Intrepid EB gasser some day. Problem is I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with nowhere to store anything outside. So aside from the smell from the heli I would also have to deal with the smell from the fuel can. Second problem is I drive a normal car so I'd have to contend with odor in my car as well. I know that camp fuel would help. But what are the cons of using it other then double the cost? Also would the fuel fragrances make any difference in smell before it burns?

I use a hanson g26,I have a gal can of camp fuel mixed up,I use this if I need to bring the heli in the house or long distant travel.I run the heli tank down till it,s almost empty, drain all the gas out,put in the camper fuel, run the heli up on the gruond and it,s good to go.when starting up again I drain the camp fuel out put the fresh gas in and go flying.I only do this four or five times a year,so I don't now if this would be ok every time you go flying.

I have a gas bird and keep it in the house in my 'shop'. I plug the vent and overfill line after the flights and never smell the gasoline. I think the problem is 'exagerated'. If the bird isn't leaking, you shouldn't smell anything.

I usually can smell the odor from mine for a little while right after flying it, then it seems to lessen after a couple hours to where I don't smell it or notice it. I never have noticed it leaving an odor in the car. Probably not in there long enough.

I agree with SeaHawk, If it isn't leaking, it shouldn't smell like gas. Draining the tank and running the fuel out of the carb removes the possability of a leak.
I have rarely smelled any gas from my helis and when I did, it was usually because it was either leaking or I didn't clean it coming home from the field.
The smell of gasoline is there for a reason. If you smell it, there are fumes in the air and you should be aware of that.
