OK many folks have been wondering about these new packs from FlightPower so I thought I would test them in a Trex450 and show the facts.

They are the FlightPower Evo25 3S 2500ma packs.
I currently use Evo25 3S 2170's so to compare these 2500's are 30 grams heavier which basically adds an ounce to your heli. Personally I did not feel the extra weight.

Many folks complain of the Trex450 being tail heavy and with these packs it should balance you out. I actually came out a little nose heavy but this is because I had set up for balance with the 2170's. If I flipped my tail servo so the output shaft was towards the front moving the servo back it should balance again.

So we have another choice in packs for the Trex450 in my opinion. I flew my same 5 minutes but you could now increase your timer. I kept the same 5 as what I wanted was consistant power throught the flight from start to finish and these packs do that as you will see in the video.

So without further ramplings here is the test video.

VIDEO -> Flight testing the FP Evo25 3S 2500 packs in a Trex450 (39 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/flightpower&filename=fp2500test.wmv)

Enjoy,

Bob!!

Are you trying to make us spend $$

Hmm 5 minutes of hard 3D

I still have yet to "time" my 2170 packs to just see how far they will actually go, im happy with 4 minutes, and that gives me a pretty decently sized cushion for the pack.

I do that kind of flying on my 2170's and get 5 minutes. I take out about 1700 ma from mine and after 100's of flights on my packs they are still doing well.
The 2500's are just another alternative so just sharing that :)

I have been very successfuly with my Lipos using a low voltage alarm from Custom Idea (http://customidea.com/shop/index.php?cPath=32&osCsid=86c55e8cea2e13c95c9218a59d9e98c3)

Let's me get the max run from my batteries. I land when power is dropping some and then LEDs confirm it is time to shut down. Triton shows full charging time after time.

Thanks for the report on the Evo 2500!

Do you have any info/experience with the Evolite 2500 18c? Looks promising spec-wise, but does it punch like the 25c packs?

Thanks!

I want to give this batteries a try. I've been using TP batteries and a TP-205 balancer. Will the flightpower packs connect directly to the TP-205 balancer or I would need to get a Flightpower balance adapter?

The FlightPower Balance Tab is the same as a ThunderPower one.

im a n00b and i have the align charger RCC-3cx with puffed mega power batteries. the batteries got me off to a good start for the money but its time for me to replace them. Can i charge the fp 2170 and2500s on my charger and get 100's of flights out of them?

ps finless your my hero

You will need an Align to TP balance adapter to use the Align charger.

What's your HS? Gearing?

me? my headspeed im uncertain but the gearing is a 13th pinion and the stock mainshaft gear. i think im close to 3k in idle 1, my throttle curves are 100,95,90,95,100 and i fly in idle 1 the entire flight. Ill check my headspeed with a skytach as soon as im charged up :)

My 2500 came a few days ago but im looking for a better charger for it.

edit: i forgot to mention I bought a fiberglass canopy HS 1269 and it doesnt fit :S do i need to modify the canopy mounts? I fly a Trex 450SA but i have the metal mounts. Oh and the battery fits in the plastic canopy but its pretty snug.

I think im gonna pick up a Evo Lite 2500 at ircha. Its just so tempting, less C rating(but still way over our ratings in our trex, 45 amps contiunous, when were pulling like 35-37s at burst), and more mah for mor flight time.

Actually I keep tjhe same 5 minute flight time and what this does is not drain the pack to the full 80%. This is less stress on the packs AND the beauty is you get more consistant power throught the entire 5 minutes rather than have the last minute drop off a little. That is what I like about them!

That makes perfect sense! Briliant!

No, I was asking finless.
In the vid, what's the hs and gearing, motor, etc.

so if i get the align balancer, and the adapter for my TP extreme, my FP evo2500 will plug into it with no problems...?

Trex 450SE
Ice charger
Align 20c 2100mAh
TP Extreme 2070
FP EVO2500(on order)

Yep... FP and TP use the same plug and pins.

Bob, now that you've been running the Evo Lite 2500's for a while now, can you compare them to the Evo25 2500's? Does the 25C pack have more punch? Temp difference? I can't find any facts regarding which is better in the long run.
