View Full Version : (Finless)DX7 Normal Throttle Curve Question
When I set up the normal throttle curve I have Point - L at 0%.
My IN setting is 0 and the out setting is -9. If I place the out at 0 I can not get the blades to stop spinning after spooling up.
Is this OK to have the out setting at -9. I found that I have alot of "dead stick" before the blades start spinning at -9.
Hopefully this makes sense.
Thanks for all the help.
Finless/Jermo if you read this THANKS for all the settings. I'm on my 5/6 flight with great results on your settings!!

Yea something is screwy.... your in and out should be the same. Make sure your subtrim for throttle is 0 and you trim is centered.
If the motor turns at low stick the program the ESC to teach it what your low stick positions is and it wont do that.

I had something simular. Had something to do with throttle recovery setting as well if i remember correctly. So it's something with the subtrim and trim settings like Finless says

Thanks for the help, sorry I'm so late with my response.
I got the -9 (out) by adjusting the throttle trim until the blades stopped spinning.
A friend set up my radio because I'm new. As time has gone on I have read allot of postings and wathced all of Finless videos, so I set my DX7 up per Finless' settings and noticed the (out) was -9. At the time I did not know it was like that. I adjusted it back to 0.
I throttled up and when I went back to low stick the blades continued to spin (slowly) so I adjusted it back to -9 and the blades stopped.
My sub-trim panel is all zeros
I have read all the posts and will know re-program my Align ESC. Finless I watched your video on ESC programming, must I now put my throttle curve on the DX7 back to linear 0, 25, 75, 100 prior to programing the ESC??
Thanks again, without this the site I would never have been able to learn so much so fast.

On normal throttle curve my in and out are not the same value. At complete low stick they are both zero; however, when I increase the throttle the out number becomes greater then the in number.
This only happens on the normal throttle mode. I watched it in the other throttle modes and the in and out are the same the entire time.
Sub trims are all zero and the trim is centered.
Someone please help if this is not right!
"Finless" have not re-programmed the ESC yet because I want the radio to be correct first, due you agree?
Thanks

OK to program the ESC this is what you HAVE TO DO.
1) Set your normal throttle curve back to linear 0,25,50,75,100
2) Make sure throttle end points (ATV, EPA whatever) is 100% on both ends.
3) Make sure ytour throttle trim is centered
4) If you have a throttle hover trim disable it or make sure it is centered. On a DX7 it one of the top toggle buttons.
OK now go program your ESC. When you done you should NOT have to have any negative for throttle hold. The motor should not spin with hold at 0%.
I can always tell when someone has either NOT programmed the ESC or did it without setting a linear throttle curve etc. WHY?
1) They need a negative number for hold
2) They dont seem to get full power out of thier ESC (it's not sensing high stick properly)

Finless,
Please don't go postal on me, I almost have it.
1) got it
2) Where do I check the end point I've scrolled through everything on this radio and cant find end points? TRAVEL ADJUST? all 100%
3)Got it
4) Where do I check throttle hover trim. Its a rocker style and as I click it I see no change anywhere. Again read the manual and see it works in normal mode only but do not see how to adjust it on any menus?
:) When I read your postings Finless I stand, WHY?, it's now gospel
Side note short story: My gyro was on top. Watched your video and was one day going to attempt to move it under the frame. Then one beautiful sunny day the T-Rex went forward I went way back, it went back I PANICKED and yes BANG, Gyro no more. Blade strike. $125.00 later your word is Gospel and the gyro will now be under the frame!!!
Waiting for the UPS man as we speak, to install.
Thanks for the assistance in this great hobby.

Yes it is called travel adjust and check that throttle is 100% - 100%
I dont have my DX7 with me at the moment but there are 2 littel rocker type switches at the top of the radio when you use them they omit a beep for each press and when you hit the center position of the range the beep is different and is to tell you your at center. I also recall there is a scale at the top of the display to represent the position of this rocker control.

The Hover Pitch was the problem. Adjusted that and the in and out are exact in normal throttle. I must have messed with it and didn't know it!!
I will program the ESC when I get my parts in for the low stick problem.
I can't say thanks enough
TIM
Esc re-programed and no more low stick problems.. Thanks for the help.
