I don't think "cheap" and "carbon" go together real well. If you search the forum you'll see some complaints about the Helimax units, but @ $38 you're not out much if they do suck. From what I understand the Rotortech's are the blades of choice but they're pricey.
These are 550's, but a little cheaper-I use the 600's on my Rex and they track perfectly and are balanced right from the factory:

You might also try contacting Dennis at Dee Tee to see if he's got anything that will work.

i guess i need to reword that......i guess what i am trying to say is i would just hate to hit the ground with $100 blades. I like those in the link and $64 is not bad at all.
Rotortechs run un the mid to upper 80s.
I am still learning 3D and need something over than the woodies that want hurt my pocket that bad if i tear them up. Unless the woodies are good for learning 3D/.

The best low cost composite blades I have used on my Swift are the Silver/Grey #5366 composite ones made by Funkey. There are a number of shops here in Canada that always stock them. In the USA I believe they are available from Heli-world and some others.

Depending on your head speed you can practice 3D on woodies. I do and I have never broken a blade in flight. I've run stock 520's at 2100+ and 550's at 1900+ with hard stick inputs most of the flight. When you are done crashing(for the most part) then you can go to carbons. I still have some crashing to do as I haven't hovered LOW inverted yet and my backwards flight is only good Tail-in.
I have the Funkey 530 silver composites. I have only got two flights on them so far. Jury's still out.
Edit: 7-11-07 . Flew on the Funkeys again tonight with one Swift. They are fairly heavy/rugged. Roll rate lower. Auto hang time good.

i am going to try these out hopefully by next weekend, they are cheap ... but i have heard quality needs to be fixed (i.e. might need some filing along the trailing edge), and ofcourse balancing.

if they turn out to be a dud, at least they are cheap ...

I have a set of the Heli-max 530 carbons for my Swift and they are just fine. No balance or quality problems. They are heavier than the woodies and add inertia to the rotor system so you have to aware of a different feel on the controls. Better for autos though.

If you can go up to a 550 - believe it or not - the Gohbee carbon blades are a good bang for the buck. I actually replaced my Vblades with a set on my Trex. The Radix were to soft around center, the vblades were very aggressive & tough on batteries but the Gohbees seem to be a good all around & have serious hang time on autos!

Hi All,
I’ve got about 150 flights on my 550 SABs. I really love these blades. They’re stiff. They fly 3D great. They’re white and easy to see. But best of all they’re quiet. They don’t flap much during high cyclic maneuvers. I think they were only about $60.
I had my pinion come loose once and I stopped the blades before I realized I didn't have power. My Swift fell from about 20 feet, but it didn't damage the blades. So they're pretty tough, too.
But at the same time, don’t be afraid of flying the woodies. I did for my first 180 flights and they took me through loops, rolls, and inverted. They don’t fly that much different than the CF blades on the smaller helis like the Swift. If you’re worried about dinging a set of CFs, just stick with the woodies.
Keep ‘em flying.
