When I made my DIY night blades I noticed the copper tape would tarnish and oxidize after only a few weeks use. Within a few months it resembled an old penny.

Shopping around on ebay I found some silver coated copper tape for around the same price. Most of this stuff is made by venture tape and meant for stained glass but its excellent for our hobby as well.

Here is an example: http://glasssupplies.ecrater.com/p/7365828/silvered-copper-foil-7-32-venture-tape (http://glasssupplies.ecrater.com/p/7365828/silvered-copper-foil-7-32-venture-tape)

If you shop for it on ebay or elsewhere make sure you get the silver both sides variety. Works great and its much more resistant to tarnishing and oxidation. Plus it looks much better IMHO.

On the plus side the stuff has slightly better conductivity measuring .02 ohms where the copper measured .03 ohms of resistance over the same distance of 2 inches.

Not sure if the adhesive is conductive on this product like with some brands of plain copper tape.

Here are some pics of my latest set:

polish them up and apply a thin coat of clear coat to stop the oxidization. You can use gold or silver plated tape... ...if you can find it
