Well I pulled a real good one today. I decided to dye my fins like I have done at least a dozen times before BUT this time I left them in the pot and forgot about them. They did dye real nice BUT they didn't stay the shape they were supposed to :( What a spaz!
Looks like I will def have to wait to fly my heli now :bomb:

NO YOU WONT HAVE TO WAIT....I am buying you a finset right now, and putting them in the mail for you. Thats ridiculous. I dont want you to be grounded, LOL.
I am sending you carbon fiber fins off of my ship.

Sorry to hear about the fins melting but I am interested in this dyeing process. Can you let us know how it should be done.
Thanks in advance - Simon.

Its so easy to do. All you do is go out to the store and buy some RIT dye for clothing, put a pot of water on the stove and get the water hot but NOT boiling. Pour in the rit dye and mix it up, drop in your fins and stir them around until they are completely dyed the color you want. It takes about a 1/2 hour for the dye to completly soak into the fins. This works great on nylon and most plastics but it doesn't work on them all.
JUST don't leave them on the stove like I did or you will have bent up useless fins :arggg:

I've seen a set of Trex 600 main gear dyed black using this process, they looked factory supplied.

I put the "new style" ribbed black T-Rex 600 gear on mine. It looks like it belongs on the bird more than the puny (in comparison) stock ones do. I did have to slot the holes a bit to bolt them on. About a 30 second procedure with a Dremel.

I just found the package. Here is what I used: http://www.readyheli.com/H60126_New_Landing_Skid_p/h60126.htm
You'll also need skid pipes H60137: http://www.readyheli.com/H60137_Landing_Skid_Pipe_p/h60137.htm
And landing skid nuts H60064 : http://www.readyheli.com/H60015_Metal_Washout_Base_p/h60064.htm

Hey if you want some nice skid nuts check out the clear RAPTOR ONES.
The skid pipes from the hurri are too small a diameter to re use with the 600 gear?
