Hi
I have just sold all my 35mhz equipment (European equvalent with the 72mhz in USA)
And now I'm going for the 2.4ghz systems...
I could pick up a DX7 right away at my hobbyshop....oooor wait for the JR X9303 to come out and later be introduced to the European market.
What should I do, and how long could I have to wait to see the JR in Europe?
I'm a heli beginner and probably don't need the X9303, but it's shiny & looks nice ....and I want one :)
Thanks

Hi
I think you should wait for the X9303, it has much more options than the DX7.
The only thing is for you, you have to order one in the USA. I'm 99% sure your LHS will not stock that X9302 radio (because you live in Europe).
Although JR will proberbly come out with a 9X II on 2.4 Ghz.

Thanks nando. I'll try to wait for the X9303, but if it's short in supply and hard to get I might have to buy the DX7 since I have no radio at the moment.
On the other hand, I'm still waiting for my Align600N that I ordered long time ago, and until it's built and finished I don't need a radio.

For sex appeal and bragging rights the X9303. For "does almost as much and probably more than you need for half the price" the DX7.
Seriously, take a look at the manuals for both to see if the extra features of the 9303 are likely to be any use to you. If not, and if you don't need more than 7ch, you will be paying a large premium and waiting several months for the X9303.
Don't get me wrong, if money was no object, heck I'd get the 12X just for the sex appeal, but in the real world the DX7 does more than most folk need. AFAIK, for helis all the 9303 offers over the DX7 is 7pt curves (vs 5pt) and a number of fancy and rather complex mixes for precision competition flying. Sure the scroll-and-click interface on the X9303 is very nice to use, but the buttons on the DX7 work just fine. It takes maybe 5 minutes to get used to the 9303 controls and 15 minutes to get used to the DX7 and then it ends up much the same.
Just my opinion, others may differ.

Thanks for the input kgfly.
This choice, like so many other RC related choices, surely boils down to bling and "wanna have that"...Not necessarily that I need it.
I'm sure the extra features would be nice, but not very important for a rookie flyer like myself.
The DX7 looks great and from what I've read about it, it's also really popular.
I have held one and thought it to be a bit plastic compared to my Futaba F9C.
Well, time will tell... Smart move (DX7) vs. "wanna have because it's "better" (X9303)
Just to recap, I bought the DX7 + two AR7000's and I am VERY happy with it.
This radio covers all I need and are currently guiding my Align 600N and TT MiniTitan helis.
DX7 Horray :)

What is the gimbal feel like on the 9303? I would ebay my DX7 just for the upgrade.

The one thing I'd hope to have improved is the gyro setup screen, and the ability to set per-mode gains. The DX7 on this has been my one sole frustration with the radio. I could only really get it to work the way I wanted by setting it to per-mode, then making the modes all the same.
Anyone know whether this is any better?

I'm with you 100% here, Kenneth. The 9303 is more than 2 times the price of the DX7. If you need 9 channels I would go for it.
If I look at the foto's of the 9303 I am surprised JR gave exactly the same "plastic"look as the DX7 to this more expensive tx. If you go for the "pro look", I would have anticipated a much more different finish.

And, they still have not fixed the unbalanced strap ring on the 9Ch tx I noticed............

Is the timer any different on the X9303? I understand it can't be made to start automatically on the DX7. Some keep posting they would like to see it able to start with throttle up or throttle hold turned off or the like .

The timer can only be used as a countdown timer or stopwatch, unfortunately it can only be started by a switch, not automatically with the throttle.
