I have a bunch of 4s 3300 lipo's that I use in my boats and I am thinking about using them in my heli as well. Do you think it would be a bad idea to just go out and buy a few 2s matching packs that I can use in series with my 4s packs? I already fitted a 4s pack on the top shelf of my 550 with no fitment problems so it will be even easier to fit the 2s on the bottom shelf.
Does anybody see a problem with that?

Yes that you can do but you should charge them together so your balancer thinks it is a 6S pack and thus all cells between the 2 packs are balanced to each other.
Only other issue is your 4S packs are used and the 2S packs will be new thus the 4S packs may discharge differently than the new 2S pack. This is what cell matching is all about and why GOOD pack manufacturers spend the time to match cells for best pack performance.
I have tried reparing 6S packs before by taking out a bad cell and putting in a new good cell. It works but is not the best performing pack for sure. It also requires a lot of balanacing from the balancer.
