Hi all

I am getting confused about which pinion/pulley size i should be running.

I am using the scorpion 4525-520 le motor and kontronic heli jive 120 hv.

This is my first big electric heli so help with getting it setup right would be apreaciated.

Also i am using pulse 6s 5000 65c and nano-tech 6s 5000 65c packs.

Thanks

Check out Mr. Mel's headspeed calculator on readyheli.com, or download his app. But a 21T motor pully sounds like the right choice for you.

Agreed. I have the same motor (4525-520LE) and I use a 21 tooth motor pulley. I am running head speeds of 2000, 2100 and 2200 RPM (Normal, Idle1, Idle2). Get a 21 tooth. That's the sweet spot for our motor. 22 stock pulley is too much. 20 tooth is not enough.

Are you running the heli or power jive only i found with the helijive it prefers a lower throttle percentage than the powerjive. I run a 20 tooth with headspeed of 2100 at 65

Are you running the stock tail pulley or the 26T ? I probably only want to run up to 2100 max (No 3D yet)

I run the 4525-520LE with the Heli Jive 120 and 26 tooth tail pulley. My 3 head speeds are 2000, 2100, and 2200. The 21 tooth motor pulley is PERFECT for this setup.

Cool i will get a 26T pulley - What are your throttle curve precentages in the transmitter ??

Normal 0-42-42-42-42
Idle 1 52-52-52-52-52
Idle 2 62-62-62-62-62

Idle 2 62-62-62-62-62

The HJive is happiest run at 65-70 throttle.
Running the 20 tooth would get your throttle to around 58 norm and 72 idle 2, Nearer to the 'sweat spot' as far as the HJive is concerned IMHO

Motors also run much more efficiently nearer their top speed.

Be kind to your motor and HJive!

You will shut the esc down or over amp if flown really hard with a 52% tc at 2100 head speed, like what was said 65 and 70 tc is better if your going to fly it hard.

Guys
What flight times are you getting with these head speeds? What batteries are you using and how much are you putting back into the pack?
I'm still babying mine till I get the new pulleys, currently running at 1800 rpm and use about 72% of the pack
tp 5000mah 6cell stick configuration 2 per flight.
