OK so I set it all up...level swash...CCPM all set up ,but my tail is pure madness.

I have it so if im looking at the tail from the side when I pull it toward me (tail) it pushes away from me. The Gyro light is solid when I turn the power on and seems to be reacting ok

heres the problem....It just spins..and spins

If I hit the stick to give more tail it starts spinning the oppisite direction. I then kill the power and I look at the gyro (GY 401) and its just blinking. I have to power off the system to get it solid again. I tried reversing the servo on the gyro...didnt help

1. Could this be a gyro problem or incorrect setting?

2. could it be binding on the tail. Im using those guids that slip on the tube and they move around alot. Should I just remove them completely?

IM just lost on this :(

What is your gyro gain set to?

Your gyro is reversed ;) Or your rudder servo one of the 2 or both.

Gyro setting of 74% on the trannie will give you around 37% gain on the gyro which is considered optimal. You almost certainly have reversed gyro. Make sure that left rudder stick moves the slider left ie towards the boom and that your tail rotor blades move appropriately to move the tail to the right ie you have your tail unit on correct way round. Now move your rudder stick to the left and watch the tail servo move - kick your tail boom left and the servo should move the same way if it doen't reverse the gyro direction. If you still having problems post a pic of your tail rotor.

Note to self........."Dont put the tail blade holders on backwards"

Woops

And to think I did the same Exact thing on my 450 too....lol

I did the exact same thing when I first built my new Trex 600N . Except it was one of the main rotor blades, and all the chopper did when I gave it t hrottle was spin in a circle. :arggg:

Does it matter which way the tailblade holders are mounted as long as the blades are correct?

On mine, I have mounted the blade holders so the M3 nut is away from the boom in the holders (The M3 nut that secures the blade itself with M3 bolt).
The instr. book shows that these bolts are on the boom side.... Do I need to fix this?
(I thought the tailblade holders were symetrical and it's a matter of taste how to mount them)

As the blade grip arms aren't offset it doesn't affect travel but it does change the control from leading edge grips to trailing edge control - whether this is significant is debateable (as long as you have the blades reversed also LOL) but I would prefer to stick to the Align design ....

It turns out that it does indeed matter if you use leading or trailing tail grip control on a trex. I explain the effects / reason in one of Mercuriell's threads, the one about the new quickUK tail for trex 600's:

Hope that helps :)

Went about re-setting up the tail(s) today after a rebuild with a video in mind - I usually set the slider by eye to centre but this time thought I'd take Nigel Browns advice and set it up electrically to give equal throws as judged by the limits on the 611 - was fascinated that adjusting the slider centre to give equal A & B limits does put the tail rotor blades just offset enough to give 3-4 degrees of anti-torque even though the slider looks in the centre !
