So is our highest loved sim on it's way down?

450 flies strange as hell and when you put gov of it goes to 5000+rpm wtf! gyros act wierd and the blade sound is HORRIBLE! Scales are just messed up.

Please everyone, mail your thoughts to them.

They have had alot of time for this update and this is what we get? i am worried

three months is hardly a lot of time to re-engineer a simulator.

Keep in mind this is not the final release, it is only beta. I am sure there is a lot of work left to be done on it.

Compare it to Windows, which is the equivalent of early beta software on release and when they (not microsoft, but the computer gurus that post everything on the net) figure out how to make it run well, microsoft releases a entirely new bunch of beta junk, and people love it, every minute.

They are working on it, but by all means do send them the problems. I have and they want to know what they are so they can fix them. They have another update 1.04b out now that addresses some issues.

Sorry to say Cityflyer,

But the tone and all the ???
Your a bit overreacting IMO, sounds like a cheap magazine headline.
This is still a Beta, they even state it on their website that there can be bugs in this beta version.
IMHO they are going forward, but sometimes new things in a Sim can mess up existing features.
It's to us, the users to inform them about problems we encounter during use of the SIM.
So send them a E-mail or write a constructive post about your exact problems.

My 2 cents

Eric

One thing I did find funny was that you can fly the shift rotor perfectly well with one rotor pod knocked off.

Yeah and the new Trex 600 should be renamed "Trex 600 12s" Is it even heli people that have done the new setups? makes me wonder.

EricW, yes if you see my post it is more to call out everyone to mail them.
I might have overreacted a bit, i really hope so.

It's a hard and sometimes frustrating job to have your love-baby tested by thousands of people on thousands of different configurations.
Which is impossible to test with a beta testers team.
The wave of criticism after a beta release always makes it hard (also mentally) to filter the main issues out and to determine where you did it wrong as a developer.
Once you get good constructive feedback from your beta-testers and the public, it really speeds up the process of trial and error.
This is what they are doing right now, and i appreciate the way they are doing it.
They worked the whole weekend while i was playing their nice creation.

Just tried the C revision.
Great improvement!
I can go back to my earlier Graphics configuration with all options on, also the sun effect is active now and still smooth performance.
The sound is much better on the engines.
The blade effect feels as if it's calculated realtime, which is great but the sound still sounds like a card in a bycicle wheel, would love a real barking sound :)
The effects in plane stallturns and rolls are improved imo.
The heli's also fly smoother, a bit like the 1.03 version, I like to have a tiny bit of extra gravity/less lift but maybe i'm not used to performance nitro heli's and should first fly one in real life to comment on that.
Thumbs-up for the PhoenixRC Dev's!

Keep going guys.

1) They on ly need one or two reports, not thousands of the same issue.

2) This is all part of beta testing. If you don't want to beta test, wait until the final release. Back when I beta tested some flight sim software, I got a version that would lock up my computer SO HARD, that it required a power off for over 1 minute to successfully reboot, no reset or quick power off/on would do it.

i ahve to agree, this is a beta release. I like looking for bugs and helping sort out the problems it just makes it better in the long run. I am willing to deal with quieks and reporting them. The like new version and look forward to more updates which is one of the reasons why i bought phoenix in the first place. my 2cents... :glasses2:

I can't get any of the previously downloaded models to work. I re-installed them as per the instructions, but no joy. The new models available on the website work fine, but none of the previous add-ons like the Trex 600/450.

This is with 1.04c.

Any ideas?

Strange,
The allready installed heli's like the 600 and the 450 work fine on my system with 1.04C.
Haven't tried reinstalling them though.

Yeah and the new Trex 600 should be renamed "Trex 600 12s"

Yup, it seems impossible to bog it.

The collective seems slightly less responsive in 450.

I have updated mine to 104C and so far my only problem is that when I move my TX stick, the sim doesn't react at the same speed so there is a definite lag. If I have the onscreen tx showing I can move any stick on my real TX from end to end and back at a moderately fast speed and the onscreen TX doesn't even register that I have moved the stick at all. I have the Futaba 6EX 2.4 and have selected the 6EXH with no expo as the closest profile. I have emailed Phoenix, so well see what happens.

As per Phoenix Support (extremely quick and friendly by the way), I deleted the particular resources/object/aircraft/helicopter/electric/specific model folders that were not loading (they were returning an error message stating that they were incompatible) from the resources directory, then reinstalled via Phoenix update and re-ran the 1.04C installer.

Works now.

The problem I was describing with the lag was caused by the sun glow effect under system settings, I unchecked the box for it and my sim is reacting as it should....strange?? and I can't say enough about the phoenix support team. these guys rock!!

Update 1.04D is out.
Again some improvements and bugfixes.
It's getting better and better Imo.
If you Zip or Rar your settings directory (PhoenixRC\resources\Settings) incl. subdirs, and unzip it on the same location after install, all your earlier settings will remain the same.

Your gfx card probably do not have hardware support for the sun glow effect.

Downloading d now, happy days!

v1.04f Fixed the above problem. All models now work.

Did you notice that you now need some angle of bank during hover to counter tail rotor side forces? This is much more realistic flight model that enhances the sim as a training device. Excellent work.
