I will try a cheap inrunner for my 5s setup (look very similar to the align motor), it has 1345kv, supports up to 28V and produce more than 1kW, so should be quite ok.
Is there a need to phase the shaft in order for the the pionion to sit ? What is your experience ?

YES..... I had to add a flat spot to my 600+ as the pinion kept trying to slide up the motor shaft. THis was with the old motor mount though BUT I still reccomend it.

My 600+ motor didnt have ANY so I used a dremmel and a cut off disk to make 1 flat spot. I didnt see a need to make 2 and it's been working fine.

Mine came with two flats but one isn't in the same location as the ones on the pinion so I just used one.
