I am getting 11 minutes 20 seconds hovering(1850RPMS) and slight movement around with this set up...I am very pleased with the duration for a sport training heli...I will change the pinion to a 9 tooth and run a 15S1p A123 setup in the near future and see how that does...Probably will set normal to 1950RPM and idle 1 to 2100 to 2200RPMS for a 3D setup. Will let you know how I make out with the future setup.

I charge at 2C and takes 30 minutes to charge each battery...I could charge at 3C as well and be fully charged in 20 minutes per battery.
Basicvally can fly none stop with 2 sets of batty packs. At a cost of $100.00 per pack plus another 7 dollars for the shrink wrap/balance leads..It is a great option. Fly till power lose, safer charging in the house...

Waiting on my CF tail blades to see what they do.

I fly a Trex 600 on 14s A123 now and it smokes, I will be moving into a 620SE soon probably with 10S2P as I would like to do aerial work with it eventually.

If you look at getting the Mastech AC/DC converter I have listed in my sig you can charge a 10S2P in P at 20 amps =) about 11-15 minutes full charge for 20 cells.

I am thinking for the flexibility to buy another TP1010 and just charge 10s123 at 5Amps each..alittle slower but battery cycles will probably last longer..I already have an AC/DC power supply that can handle 40amps so dont have to buy another power supply...and I already have another set of A123 10s2p packs so the only noisance is changing the packs out to fly continously.

I am getting 9 plus minutes at 1950RPMS and the heli feels much better.

RC,

For a sport setup the original setup was great. In my heart I really wanted something that was lighter with crazy power so put a 9 tooth pinion on it and went to a 15Sa123 setup and now getting around 5 minutes at 2250 RPMS. Maybe 6 minutes at 2100RPMS... I figured with a mastech charger I can charge both my batteries in 15 minutes at 10 amps so would not have alot of down time and can even fly a 2nd heli between charges if I liked.
The only thing I noticed is if you did a hard punch with the sport setup fro ma hover the tail would torque to the right BUT if you want a sport setup you would not be doing that anyhow...

You don't mention in the original post what pack configuration you were using, was it 10s2p ?

So how are your packs configured ? Two 10s bricks (basically the shape they come out of the DeWalt pack) or two 10s shotgun packs or something else ? Do you balance them ? Did you get the special A123-friendly frame upgrade from tpppacks or make your own modification to get them to fit ?

2 10s right from the dewalt configuration. Added balance leads...Tppack conversion lower frames and they fit right in.

Right fro mthe dewalts initially had to charge slow and blalance them until all the cells were equal voltage...took awhile until Icould get 2 low cells to charge evenly...Now I can charge at 2C and they stay even until the close to 3.6 volts and then they flucuate unless you reduce the charge rate...really does not make a difference becuase as soon as you put a load to them they seem to balance right out...

Anyone that thinks they are not as good as lipos, I will let you fly my 15S setup with a Z50a-800 and I CAN ASSURE you it has more power then any 10s lipo and almost as much power as a 12S lipo setup....
