View Full Version : 61 teeth gear doesnt fit as main

Hi,
wanted to try higher kv motor and therefor I wanted to change from 42 to 61 teeth gear, but I was so surprise that the later is thicker and not possible to install :?
Sorry, I am sure this has been discussed already, but quite hard to find the information.

I had to sand mine to get it to fit. It took a LONG time by hand to shave off 1-1.5mm so that it was a clean fit. I'm hoping that next time will be w/ the RevCo gears, but thus far these have been hard to get. Barring that, it looks like the belt sander will be the way to go. Even the plastic on the old gears (not stamped w/ "OK") was pretty tough...

puh, to sand will take a while, has someone tried to dremel the frame instead ?

The old version 61T is 1mm thinner. I use the V-1 RR car 61T gear (as thin as the old Gaui 61T, cheap, not delrin) as the front gear and is almost 100 flights without teeth stripping problem. It even survives a major crash, depite the rear man gear, main frame,... is broken.

I used a dremel to put in the new 61T Gaui gear. Seems OK, only had to take about 0.5mm off the bottom of the opening. No problem flying so far.

I made the RevCo 61T gear thick as the standard Gaui gear to stand up as a main gear as well as possible. You could dremel or belt sand it thinner tough...although it wont be as pretty as it was out of the bag it would work perfectly.

FYI, Ready Heli has A TON of RevCo gears for the Hurricane in stock now.

But no 24T pinions. :( I can never seem to catch pinions, 61T and 68T gears in stock at the same time. They seem to sell out while I'm at work.

The 24T pinion is the Hirobo Lepton pinion. I am sure someone has one in stock.

I just hope the big gears are still in stock by then. No Lepton pinions in stock either. They've been snatched up too. I'm trying to avoid paying shipping on several small orders. None of the LHS's are worth a damn for heli's unless it's Blade CP/CX. A very few carry minimal T-Rex stuff.
