Okay guys so I am putting together electronics for my 7HV build. I have ordered the castle ice2 120HV and the 700MX 510kv motor, but I have a couple questions for those of you running it. When I use Mr. Mels headspeed calculator it says when using a 14t pinion (90% efficiency, with castle governor enabled) my maximum governed headspeed is 1993. But I have done some research on helifreak and many people said with a 14t pinion they were governing at much higher headspeeds, with this setup. My target headspeeds are 1950, and 2150. Basically just seeing if people can confirm that a 14t is enough or if I should step up to a 15t. Can someone confirm that 1993 is not the highest governed headspeed possible? Thanks in advance for the help.

You can run the Castle Link software in demo mode. Input all of the correct perameters and it will tell you exactly what you need.

Cool didnt know I could do that. Still confused though. It says even with a 15T pinion 2150 is too high of a head speed for governing, and has minimal overhead. I have read through numerous threads in this forum where people running a 14T said they were governing at 2050 and 2100. Am I missing something?

is that using the castle esc? (the people that are running 14t and governing at 2050 and 2100) i have a vbar on mine and the governor speeds can be set higher than on the castle esc

Scured has I right, it seems Kontronic, YGE and Vbar govs allow higher RPM. I run my 510kv 70mx on an Ice 120HV and get 1950 and 2150 w/ 15t.

Yes I have seen people claim they were governing at 2100 with the align motor and castle esc and a 14t pinion. I decided I am going to grab a 14t for now and get a 15t when ready heli has the revco pinion back in stock.
