Hi, I'm working on setting up my Trex 450 with my 7CAP (airplane model). If I'm reading the manual right, the Idle ups and the Throttle hold must be on the 3 way switch G. I don't see how that would work - wouldn't I have low = normal, mid = Idle 1 and high = Idle 2? Then were does the Throttle Hold go? Or don't I need throttle hold for an electric? Any thoughts appeciated. DHS

Throttle hold goes on the two position switch on the left side, top, front. I dont have one in front of me.

Finless vids cover the 7c setup very well.

Can you guys explain to me the difference between throttle cut and throttle hold?

I have a 7CHP.

I have cut on switch A(front far left, set to only work below 5%)

I have hold on switch G.

I don't think I can move throttle hold, and I would really like it on F, the big trainer switch, seem like it will be easier to get to in a pinch(which is when I'll need it)

Hold drives the throttle to a predetermined positon, normally a reliable idle, you dont want it on the spring loaded trainer switch. You use it to do auto rotations and to remove the torque from the main rotor if a crash is immenent or you have a tail rotor problem to stop the body from spinning out of control.

Throttle cut...in the old days (trim sliders) we would pull the trim back to cut the engine, and push it up to the middle or so to get a good idle. The the advent of digital trims it makes that a chore. So we have throttle cut, pull it when the stick is at idle and it will completely close your throttle and kill the engine. You only want it to work when the stick is at low so you dont chop the throttle in flight, although you can set where the stick cutout its there's really no good reason to mess with it. I assign that to the trainer switch so you can pull it and kill the engine then let it go.

I got ya, so throttle cut is really only useful for gassers, since most electrics 0% throttle is off... and re-starting is not a problem.

I havent put up any gas planes or helis is a while, but its all comong back to me :D

Yea its a nitro thing.

Hold is good for making sure electrics dont come alive unbidden by bumping the throttle stick while you are carrying them or snagging it with a neckstrap or something. We do the same with the nitros when we are starting them or walking them out.
