I'm a total nube at helis. But I have to tell you, this is the most fun I've had since I became and adult...well...maybe not the MOST fun...but you know what I mean :)

I bought a CX2 and unfortunately I had problems since I got it. On the first charge my battery charged but instead of the green light going out, it started blinking while the red light stayed constant. It was a new "toy" and I couldn't wait to get it in the air so I hooked up the battery and gave it a shot. I only got about 1 minute hover time. I purchased another battery thinking that may be the problem. This one charged fine. But I only got about 1 minute hover time again.

After speaking with Horizon Hobby they thought it was the 4-1 so they were kind enough to send me a new one (should be in tomorrow). BTW, they also mentioned they hadn't heard of the blinking green/steady red problem. It only happened the one time so I'll let it go.

My question is, does anyone know of any problems with the CX's at higher altitudes like Denver, I'm at around 5300'. What can I expect for battery life? Will I be able to hover at 9' or 10' off the ground with the thinner air up here? Are there any other problems I need to look forward to?. I would hate if all I can get is 1 minute of user for each charge.

Anyone out there in the Denver area that can advise as to what I expect, I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks
Willy

im not sure about the higher alt... unless its a nitro bird.. but it could be the problem. once i read that you only got 1 minute of flight it makes me think maybe just maybe you got a faulty charger.. here is what ya do

get your hands on multimeter, charge the pack up if its a 2 cell pacl i think its supposed be 9.6v full charged.. so if it read 9.6 give or take 2 no bigger.. go fly when the power starts to cut out.. land as soon as you can.. your not supposed to fly lipos down to where the heli wont come off the ground. neways.. once its time for you to stop flying measure the pack again and see where it sits. then charge the pack and measure again. if everything matches up then its not the charger..

I am in the mountains in Northern Iraq, I get between 8 to 12 mins time of Hard flying. I fly both indoors and Outdoors with mine. the main problem I have is slapping rotors. Someone figured out how to get more space and out the thread here but I dont have the supplies to do it here.

I installed the new 4 and 1 and voila! Problem fixed.

The evening is calm so I took my heli outside. I had an 8 minute flight off my first charge. After reading other posts on under charging I decided to bring it down to not damage the battery. I was also able to get it about 20 feet in the air, so much for my question on flying this in the thin air of Denver. Since I'm not used to flying it scared me a bit being that high and I brought it down a bit fast. Consequently I broke a couple of blades. No biggie though. Have plenty of spares.

Thanks to TX Flyer and Kindling Maker for their advise. This forum is fantastic, full of helpful people and wonderful tips! I hope to be a member for a long time to come.

Thanks again

Don't give me ideas on upgrading. My wife can't understand how I spent $200 on a "toy and supplies". In fact, I wanted to stop at my LHS today to pick up a multimeter and she wanted to come along to see what the fuss was about. While we were there I was trying to explain to her the difference in helicopters and the difference in cost. Granted, at this point my knowledge is limited so I didn't help my cause, but she just couldn't get the whole thing.

Wait until I tell her I want an airbrush kit so I can make my CX2 look purdy :)

Great news on the CX2. BTW the receiving range on these is about 300 feet. I had mine out today, first time in weeks. What a blast! Fast circuits of the front garden and my favourite the descending fast turn. Had my first blade slap too, but they were chipped to hell anyway. The CX2 is just a toy really, but a great one. We can buy them in UK now - but they are $240 USD equivalent - without spares!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, BTW, Batts - I got a DN Power 900mAHr 2S Lipo - fits straight in, more capacity than the e-flight.

What kind of flight time are you getting in you CX2 with the 900mahr batteries?
I usually get about 8-9 minutes with my factory batteries. Motors heat up pretty good though.
