Hi everybody,.
I was noticing the tail blades on a few of the 50's I saw this weekend looked real small compared to the 105's I'm used to. What size tail blades do you guys recommend running on the 50? I'll be running the Hyper 50 and 600 V-Blades Mains. Are 95 V Tails OK on the 50?
Thanks in advance for the information!!

I'm running MAH 90's on mine. I've heard that there is a possibility of them touching the mains, but I haven't had a problem. But then again I'm not into heavy 3d. Still trying to get there.

Will, give the SAB 92's a try. They were rockin on the EVO.....(Til I crashed!).
If your gonna try to fly hard 3D I wouldn't go over 92mm. Contrary to popular belief, they WILL hit the mainblades. Clay has proven that a couple times! I think we are finding out more and more that it's not always how long they are. Width has allot to do with it also.

What length are they Mongoose? Do you know?
I am running the 92mm (I think) blue hirobo plastic tail blades. You can get them from Rick's for like 8 or 9 bucks...However, even with those I have had 2 incidents of blade strikes during very hard tic-tocs. I had the boom slip in once...I have since come up with an additional clamp to hold the boom back...I have also had to take the 600mm Thunder Tiger blades to the disk sander and shorten them very carefully at the tips by about 5mm. Regardless, you gotta have more than the stock tail blades when you want good backwards performance. Run the headspeed high, this will help the tail performance too.

I run the Mavrikk 85s but they are a wider chord. They work very well. I do a lot of high speed backward flying and they hold really well for that.

Sounds good. I have had very good luck with Mavrikk Carbon blades and since Vic does not make 85's, maybe I'll go with the Mav's. Thanks again for the great info everybody!!

Will, use NHP 95mm. Awesome blades. No need to worry about the blades touching!!

Vic made a custom paddle set for Colin so why don't you mail him Will?
BTW I'll try to save up for a R50 SE, at intermodellbau Dortmund

I called Vic about this exact question and he said his 600 mains are short enough to clear 95 tail blades. The problem wiht the TT 600s are they are 606 and will hit the 95s but the Vs are 603 which will clear.

Cool Jason!! Thank you for the info!! I will run the 95mm V's then!! Thank you,
Jason is exactly right. I found this out after the first contact incident with mine. We started measuring stuff and the TT 600's were actually 605 and the 92 tail blades even seemed a bit long too. Since I had three sets of mains around, I just shortened them a bit. It actually worked very well, and they are good flying blades, and I didn't want to give up any tail blade length.
