Just wanted to know how much Torque oz-in minimum is needed for 3D in a 90 size ship?(Predator) Also are metal gears necessary?
and what do other predator pilots use?
Hitec...?
Futaba...?
JR...?

I put Futaba S9252 digitals in my Predator Gasser. All it requires is 70 oz/in servos for 3D. I suggest you stop by the century web site and download the manual for the predator and see what they state for the requirement. Doubt if it is any different than the gasser, but you never know.

S9252 or S9451 or S9351 are all common CCPM servos
It's very much a matter of personal preferance
You don't need metal gears
just like you don't need a heli

I use 9252's as well. Tried the metal gear thing thats just personal choice. It wasnt for me as they wear and get loose, plus they tend to break more parts wehn you do happen to crash. Yes plastic gears to break but if you break them then you never have wear problems do you?

So metal gears develop play after a while ...would you say plastic wears just as fast and is better because plastic is cheaper to replace?
(I have never used metal gear servos before)
Thanks for all the help :D

Yes the metal ones do wear, depending on your flying and crashing as to how long.
Plastic wears as well, but when they break in a crash they are 6 to 9 dollars and you are replacing the wear at the same time. Most metal sets are 25 and up. Plus it tends to break servo horns on the predator unless you use metal arms then it will break somthing father up im sure or bend alot of rods.
Im not saying anything is better than the other, Im just posting what works for me. I use the large wheel horns and they are not cheap or easy to come by as well.

Has anyone tried the titanium gear sets that Hitec has available? They are extremely durable and I haven't seen one loosen up yet. We are running a single 300 oz. servo per aileron on our 35% planks. If your looking for a metal gear set...titanium might be the way to go.

I use the 9351 since one year without problems, now I want to put the new JR 8717.
A friend of mine has them and they really make the difference, lots better than the Futs,
